🏔️ After 12 days of navigating hectic Himalayan switchback roads, under scorching sunshine, heavy hail and splatterings of snow our team of high-altitude motorbike riders from EO Global, finally made it to the top of the World's Highest Motorable Road - Umling La Pass at 5890 metres above sea level (that's over 500 metres higher than Everest Base Camp)

🌏 2000km riding some of the toughest terrain, rewarded with some of the most stupendous scenery on Planet Earth. From marmots to monasteries, and salt lakes to serious belly laughs - it was one epic adventure.

🏍️ Our fleet of Royal Enfield motorbikes slowly but surely powered their way up and over the four highest passes in the world without missing a beat - thank you to the team from for your expertise and professionalism.

🇮🇳 Nowhere in the world beats the explosion of sensory overload that India delivers - the sights, sounds, smells and seriously friendly people. Thank you for watching over us and keeping us safe.

A few places still available!

Still don’t have plans for the King's Birthday long weekend? 👑 That weekend, we’ll be heading into the Moreton Bay wilderness 🏞️ for an epic 3-day kayak adventure 🚣‍♂️. This expedition is a staple of the experiences we offer, and we can't wait for you to be a part of our 2024 edition.

We’ve included our top 3 moments we're most looking forward to on this journey. 🌅🔥

Sunset over the water on the East Coast of Australia
There are very few places on the East Coast where you can watch the sunset over the water, and none are more accessible than Moreton Island. It’s always a place of deep reflection and relaxation atop the great sand dunes. 🌄

A crossing of the South Passage
The South Passage between Moreton and North Stradbroke Island is the most challenging part of our expedition. Battling currents, winds, and swells, it is always a defining part of our journey as a group in this beautiful landscape. 🌊💨

Camping on the banks of the Moreton Bay Wilderness
I’m thinking of busting out the signature beans and rice just for this special moment. We love nothing more than the conversations and moments that unfold around the campfire 🔥 after the journey we’ve just completed. 🌲🌙

What does a winter crossing of the Overland Track look like? ❄️🏔️

Undertaking Australia’s renowned Overland Track in the depths of a Tasmanian winter was an experience I had long anticipated. Tales of knee-deep snow🌨️, biting winds💨, and frozen landscapes had set my expectations high for a challenging, intrepid expedition that would test my endurance and my love for wild places.

While Tasmania’s rugged beauty did not disappoint, the reality of the trek turned out to be different from the adventure I had envisioned..........

WHAT A JOURNEY! 🏔️🌨️
-
Our inaugural MT. JAGUNGAL WILDERNESS expedition went ahead last week, and it was everything we hoped for—wild, windy, wet, and even cold! ❄️ As with all expeditions, we had multiple goals for success. After adjusting our route due to a low-pressure system 🌧️, we set up base camp at Whites River Hut 🛖.
-
From there, the team experienced true snow camping in the Aussie Alps ⛷️, with hot chocolates ☕, warm huts 🔥, and great company 👥. We bagged a summit of Mt Dicky-Cooper Bogong (2005m)🏔️, skied over Schlink Pass 🎿, and learned the ropes of X-Country skiing in some of Australia's most intrepid landscapes.
-
A massive thanks to K7 Adventures for sharing their extensive knowledge of the area with our group. 🙌

Stay tuned for more details on our 2025 itinerary in the coming weeks... 🗓️✨

🎧 What does the BLA team listen to on their road trips? 🌍✨
-
The BLA team has been on the road and we have found 3 podcasts that are sure to inspire:

1️⃣ The Corners of the Earth Kamchatka – Diaries of the Wild Ones
-
This is one of the most incredible stories of perseverance in recent times. 4 adventurers head to remote Russia, hoping to catch epic waves, but what unfolds is so much more.

2️⃣ An Epic Motorcycle Trip Through West Africa –
-
Luke has a way of making you smile the entire time he's relaying the stories of the awesome adventure. He walks us through his epic trip through West Africa on a Royal Enfield.

3️⃣ How to Use Cold & Heat Exposure to Improve Your Health –
-
For those who don’t mind getting nerdy, this one dives into deliberate cold and heat exposure. Dr. Soberg outlines the daily protocols you can implement to see the long-term benefits.

My personal favourite is number 1 due to the insane timing and nature of their story! Drop your favourite adventure podcasts in the comments below! 👇

🏆COMPETITION TIME 🏆

🤔 Can you help us name our new Ineos Grenadier?!

🚖 Over the last 20 years we’ve driven our yellow Land Rover, Colonel Mustard, around the globe, visiting 64 countries in him and clocking up over 500,000km in the process. He’s got personality. He grumbles ands groans but always gets there.

🌵 Our new metallic grey Ineos Grenadier is still wet behind the ears, with a measly 9500km and two Simpson Desert crossings under its belt, we’re only just starting to know what it can do and what sort of character it’ll become.

But we’re still absolutely stumped on what to call it?!? We need your help please!

🎁 Throw us some suggestions, the funnier the better - it’ll help prepare our Ineos for a lifetime of adventure. If we choose yours, we’ll send you some Best Life Adventures goodies.

🏝️ Three days of tropical adventure on the high seas paddling around the glorious Whitsunday islands have drawn to a close.

🐳 Our team of hardy souls experienced clear skies, perfect sunsets and strong winds but soldiered on and gallantly completed their annual Best Life Adventure. We paddled over 25km alongside migrating humpback whales, circumnavigated South Molle island and climbed to its highest point for a magnificent view across Whitsunday islands.

🌅 There were moments of capsize madness, tough sections paddling into ripping headwinds but as with every Best Life Adventure, we offset the hard stuff with the good - sumptuous dinners at Fish D’Vine, sunset drinks on deserted beaches, and more belly laughs than ever before.

Over the years we’ve taken this team to mountain summits, on multi-day rail-trail rides, and down raging rivers - what will we conjure up in 2025?

👍 If you’re looking for something different to bond, bind and reward your business or tribe, drop us a DM and we’ll create something bespoke, brave and on-budget fr your crew. It’s what we do.

Louis-Philippe Loncke / Mad Belgian 🏜️

After his first journey in 2008, involving a north-to-south crossing of 600 km in 36 days, Loncke is heading back to the Simpson Desert aiming to be the first to complete a double-crossing, covering 1,060 km over 55 to 60 days. 🌵
-
Loncke plans to begin his journey next week from Andado, an old homestead southeast of Alice Springs. Starting with 85 litres of water 💧 and 20 kilograms of food 🥫 on his cart, Loncke aims to complete this 430 km first leg in 18 to 20 days, then resupply in Birdsville. 🌄
-
The return journey, expected to be the most challenging, will take the Belgian from Birdsville back to Alice Springs. This 630 km trek will take about 40 days and will require 160 litres of water 💧 and 32 kilograms of food. 🏞️🌞

When it comes to outright inspiration, there’s no one from our Best Life Adventures community who epitomises true grit, stamina, determination and friendship better than Mark Sowerby.

Mark’s the original Queensland Chief Entrepreneur, one of our most valued mentors and as of today, one of only 3 people in the world to have swum the Ocean’s Seven (7 marathon ocean swims all over the world) at the first attempt!

Yesterday he completed the final one - The Tsugaru Strait in Japan - and can now stand alongside giants as part of this very exclusive club.

Our founder, Ben Southall, was Mark’s support paddler for the Catalina Swim in 2023 and one of his greatest supporters.

Epic work legend. The only question is, what’s next?!

As the financial year comes to a close and we reach the halfway mark of 2024, we want to look back on the wild adventures we’ve had already this year! 🌍✨
-
From the Arctic Circle ❄️ to Tallebudgera Valley 🌿 to Everest Base Camp 🏔️, the Best Life Adventures team and its adventurers have covered some serious ground. So far, we've hiked, trekked, ridden, paddled, skied, snowshoed, stand-up paddle boarded, summited, and succeeded. 🚴‍♂️🛶🎿
-
Moments like riding bikes in the torrential rain on the NRRT 🚴‍♀️, snowshoeing through -40-degree temperatures 🥶, or finally summiting that mountain you've been training for ⛰️, are the moments we live for here at Best Life.
-
We are so grateful to be able to do what we do, and we can't wait for what the second half of the year has to bring for Best Life Adventures.
-
Stay tuned for some exciting announcements soon…........ 🐬✨

A LIFE OF EVERLASTING ADVENTURE

We are dedicated to leading extraordinary lives. Best Life Adventures is not just the ‘business baby’ of married moguls, Ben and Sophee Southall. It’s a movement; it’s a community.

Since 2016, we have been helping people, groups and communities discover, develop, deliver and delight in their full potential through the vehicle of adventure. Dubbed the ‘Society of Extraordinary Venturers’, we’ve become a cohort of like minded souls, who relish the experience of stepping out of one's comfort zone, exploring new ground and living life to the fullest.

Our story is still being written… Whether you’re in business, government or purely hungry for a personal challenge, we invite you to join us on our next adventure: https://bestlifeadventures.com/
