In April 2024, World Expeditions collaborated with Reconciliation Australia to develop a Reconciliation Action Plan. Our vision for reconciliation is to foster cultural safety within our communities, organisation, and across the lands we are privileged to share.

Over the next six months, we will incorporate Aboriginal place names alongside colonial names for towns, cities, and sites featured in our Australian itineraries. This initiative supports the preservation of Aboriginal languages and strengthens the connection Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples have with their culture and identity.

This is just one way we are putting our commitment to reconciliation in Australia into practice. To learn more https://worldexpeditions.com/Reconciliation

Just in time for Australia Day, the World Expeditions Foundation, through its Regenerative 2030 program, has provided 800 culturally significant books to school children in remote Indigenous communities across Australia. This initiative was delivered in partnership with The Indigenous Literacy Foundation's Book Supply program. Notably, over 50% of the books included in the Book Supply packs are authored and illustrated by Indigenous creators, offering Indigenous children the opportunity to see their own culture and stories reflected in the pages—fostering a sense of connection, belonging, and pride.

Just $10 puts a culturally relevant book into the hands of a First Nations student >>

Our Story

World Expeditions has over 40 years of experience operating authentic and unique adventure holidays with a genuine focus on the paths less travelled. We are the pioneers in designing groundbreaking itineraries and many say our trips start where others end.

Our heritage dates back to 1975 when we launched our inaugural trekking holidays in Nepal under our former name, Australian Himalayan Expeditions. In the years that followed, we expanded our operations into other Himalayan destinations as well as South America, Asia, Africa and Australia. To reflect the broader range of holidays on offer, Australian Himalayan Expeditions was renamed World Expeditions in the late 80s.

Since our inception, we have practiced a simple philosophy: to provide high quality adventure holidays for small groups of travellers with a strong alignment to responsible tourism practice, and a commitment to supporting local communities at every level of the operation.

With a focus on discovery, cultural immersion and personal achievement, our adventure travel holidays will challenge and inspire you while you bond with other like-minded travellers who also share a love for exploring new places and cultures.
