Romanian traditional art - a MILENAR tradition
The prototype of the women's dress of the autochtonous population in Romania refered to some statuetes from 1900-1200 B.C. , comprises rudimentary elements , which in their general lines will preserved in the time of the thousands of years , with all their development from the morphological , ornamental and chromatic point of view . These elements are : the shirt , " fota " ( peasant skirt ) and the girdle inclusively some decorative aspects , here we mention " altita " ( the decorated portion applied on arm , near shoulder ) at the shirt . Herodot , through his reffering at the ornaments of embroidery from the Thracian's dress gives a confirmation and testimony too , for a following period after the process of cultural differentiation between Thracians and Illyrians . From the Daco-Roman period are preserved the eloquent representation as the bas-reliefs with Geto- Daco figures which curl round Trajan's column . After the organization of the first feudal Romanian state , more and more testimonies are coming to demonstrate the evolution of the traditional costume like : Cronicum Pictum Vindobonense ( 14-th century ) , mural pictures in churches ( beginning with 15-th century ) , albums and descriptions from the 16th century till the 19 th century and ethnographical

Pavel Terțiu ,artist popular,creator de măști tradiționale din lemn și piele,din Chiricarii Nerejului.
Filmul ,,Arborele din Chiricari" este un portret cinematografic realizat de cineclubul Zboina film în anul 1981.Un an mai devreme, împreună cu echipa de filmare,în satul meșterului popular s-a făcut prospecțiunea pentru locurile unde urma să se turneze acest scurt metraj. Pavel Terțiu, unul dintre marii meșteri populari ai Vrancei, a învățat aceast meșteșug de la bunicul său și l-a transmis mai departe fiului său, Șerban Terțiu. Filmul a fost realizat cu sprijinul Centrului Metodic Județean pentru Activitatea de Cineclub și reprezintă astăzi,din punct de vedere istoric,un document despre arta și tradițiile meșteșugărești din județul Vrancea.
