Prempeh College has made the country proud by winning the prestigious World Robotics Olympiad Challenge. After tough rounds of competition with other teams from many countries, the school secured first place! The school celebrated their win with pride. They shared the news via their page, saying, “Ladies and Gentlemen, we’ve done it again! We’ve won the Global title of the World Robotics Olympiad, Unkown Mission Challenge (UMC) 2024.”
The World Robot Olympiad is a non-profit global robotics competition for young people. First held in Singapore in 2004, the competition now attracts more than 28,000 teams from more than 85 countries around the world.🏆👏🏾🙏🏾🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭

On Saturday, Ghanaian-born Annette Addo-Yobo earned the Miss Texas title and made history history as the first immigrant-born and first Ghanaian Miss Texas. Annette Addo-Yobo was born in Ghana, but grew up in the U.S. and Canada. Now a U.S. citizen, her North Texas roots run deep. In 2020, she graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology from UTD.
For her talent portion, Addo-Yobo performed a powerful spoken word promoting autism awareness. The topic hits home for Addo-Yobo, whose brother is on the autism spectrum.
"The Miss Texas crown is much bigger than me," Addo-Yobo said in an Instagram post. "This crown is for every young child, teenager, and adult on the spectrum who felt alienated, abandoned, stereotyped, and unseen because of their different abilities."🙌🏾👊🏾🥰🎉🇬🇭🇬🇭

Major congratulations to Ghanaian-Scottish architect, academic, novelist and curator, Lesley Lokko, who has been announced as the recipient of the 2024 Royal Gold Medal by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), becoming the first African woman to receive the award. She founded and led the Graduate School of Architecture (GSA) at the University of Johannesburg and as a teacher, writer, and curator she has fought to widen access to the profession and to bring forward voices that have been disregarded for far too long.
As the curator of the 2023 Venice Architecture Biennale, she has shifted the focus to Africa and its diaspora, exploring the complex themes of decolonization and decarbonization. For all her contributions to the profession, Lesley Lokko will be formally presented with the medal in May 2024 by Muyiwa Oki, RIBA’s first black president.👏🏾🙌🏾🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭

Congratulations to National Football League star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah .0 who was just voted Most Stylish NFL player. This season, this son of Ghana he repped his roots on game days with custom looks that leveled up the arrival fit game.
He was inducted into the NFL in April, 2021 through his selection by the Cleveland Browns during the NFL Draft. A 22-year-old prodigy, he promptly left an indelible mark as a rookie, etching his first career sack against the Chicago Bears in Week 3. His inaugural season epitomized resilience with 75+ tackles, three for loss, four deflected passes, and two forced fumbles. This performance solitified his inclusion in the NFL All-Rookie Team, a testament to his talent and dedication.
Beyond the stadium lights, Owusu-Koramoah stands as a community leader and philanthropist. His nonprofit, NKWA, is a beacon for holistic development (mind, body, spirit) for youths near and abroad. As his third NFL season is approaching, Jeremiah is in the pursuit of excellence.
Fueled by past success, he's committed to elevating his foundation and propelling the Browns towards a return to the postseason and, ultimately, the Super Bowl.

Remembering Christian Atsu today on what would have been his 32nd birthday.
At the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, Atsu was adjudged both Best Player and scored the Best Goal of the Tournament, helping the Black Stars reach the finals.
He also won the Best Goal of the Tournament.
The world tragically lost the former Newcastle winger in a devastating earthquake that hit parts of Turkey and Syria in February 2023.
On March 17, 2023, a state funeral was held by Ghana in honour of Christian Atsu with thousands of people from all walks of life paying tribute to him.🕊️🙏🏾⚽️🇬🇭

Another son of Ghana making history around the world!
Democrat Gabe Amo handily defeated Republican Gerry Leonard to win Rhode Island's 1st Congressional District seat Tuesday, becoming the state's first Black candidate elected to Congress.
Amo, the son of Ghanaian and Liberian immigrants who once worked as a White House aide, succeeds former Democratic Rep. David Cicilline, who stepped down this summer to become president and CEO of the Rhode Island Foundation. He said, "When I was 8 years old helping my mother study for the citizenship test, I never could’ve imagined that I would go with her to cast her ballot to vote for her son for the United States Congress,” he said, later adding, “I stand on the shoulders of so many who came before me to make this day possible.”

Congratulations to the Ghanaian-born editor-in-chief of British Vogue, Edward Enninful OBE, who has been named the UK's most influential black person by the Powerlist 2024.

He made history as the first black man to hold the top job at the British fashion magazine, and is also the European editorial director of media company Condé Nast.

Now in its 18th year, the Powerlist celebrates people of African, African Caribbean and African American heritage, and highlights black role models to young people.🙌🏾💪🏾✨🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭

Sorry to learn that Madam Theresa Kufuor, the wife of former Ghana President John Agyekum Kufuor, has passed away at the age of 88
The former First Lady reportedly died on Sunday, October 1, 2023.
She served as Ghana's First Lady from 2001 to 2009 when her husband was the country's president. 🕊️💔🇬🇭

35 year old Gabriel Felix Kofi Amo served in the Biden administration as the deputy director of the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs and is set to become Rhode Island's first Black American and person of color to represent Rhode Island’s 1st Congressional District this fall. His win Tuesday in the crowded Democratic primary for the state’s 1st Congressional District special election sent him on to the general election in the heavily Democratic state. If elected, Amo said he would address “some of the critical needs of this country,” whether it be preventing gun violence, addressing the climate crisis, strengthening Social Security or protecting reproductive freedom.
“At the end of the day, protecting people so that everyone has opportunity,” he added

History has been made and we are very proud of the Wanderlust GHANA team for completing their ambitious 10,000 Km road trip from Accra to London. The expedition was also being used to raise funds for rural primary schools in Ghana. The participants are Richard Anim, Kwadwo Saka, Kwame Peprah, Kofi Peprah, Kwadwo Prakah-Asante, Franklin Peters and his son Quincy, Joseph, Cyprian Ed, Kwabena Ayirebi, his brother Kojo and the only female in the pack, Nana Afua Serwaa, also known as "Shecanic". She is an auto repair technician on a mission to master the mechanics of automobiles across diverse terrains and climates. The team arrived in London in their vehicles on Sunday, August 6, amid cheers from proud Ghanaians and other well wishers. The squad set out on Sunday, July 23, 2023, from Accra through Aburi to Nsawam, Kumasi, and Sunyani to Dormaa and then via Golokrom to Cote d'Ivoire. From there, they headed towards Mali, then into Senegal. And from Senegal to Northern Africa through Mauritania and then Morroco. After a long drive, the Wanderlust team entered Spain through the Tangier to Algeciras ferry point, after which they rested in Valencia. The group continued their journey through Monaco, Lake Como, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and finally into France. And from there, they made their way to the United Kingdom. Their epic adventure caught the attention of international media, and the team was featured on BBC. Ayekoo to Wanderlust GHANA team👏🏾🙌🏾🙏🏾💪🏾🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭🇬🇭

Today August 4th, which marks Founders’ Day is a statutory Public Holiday to celebrate the collective efforts of the country’s forebears who led the fight for the attainment of independence from colonial rule.

Also Today in History , on 4th Aug. 1947, the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) was formed by J.B. Danquah and George Alfred "Paa" Grant.

This day also Mark's the formation of the Aborigines’ Rights Protection Society by John Mensah Sarbah in 1897.
