Some of our wildlife is actually thriving in this heat in my mountains. Regular encounters with this beautiful, somewhat fearsome creature, like some relic of a bygone age. Ladies and gentlemen I give you the most wonderful Ocellated lizard or Jewelled lizard (Timon lepidus).

Local riverside birding is great at the moment with Nightingales singing, Olivaceous Warbler arriving, Melodious Warblers rattling, blue streaks as Kingfisher flashes by and Little Ringed Plover scampering around the river margins. Life is good.

ABS are proud of our association with the Montagu’s Harrier project and our funding reached over 10,000 euros this year to assist with facilitating the work carried out by the group’s many volunteers. Although this year was a difficult one for Montagu’s in the region, the project was still able to contribute to sustaining a micro population locally in the La Janda area. Please visit our news section on the following link for both the interim report and end of season summary. There is a facility for people to donate to conservation efforts at the end of the article.

ABS are pleased to present this year’s Montagu’s Harrier project reports, the first an interim report followed by a summary at the project’s end. In total we have donated over 10,000 euro to this project (2,000 for 2022) and are extremely proud to be associated … Continue readingABS Donation...
