Biker's Life AZ We'll tell you Where to Go...How to Get There and What to Expect along the Way It’s the year of the motorcycle enthusiast!

A celebration of you, bad asses with huge hearts…the most philanthropic patriotic folks I know. We ride for Christ, Children and Cancer; if there is a cause or a need there is a biker offering support. We collect coats for the homeless, food for the needy and we protect our fallen soldier’s families from those who abuse their First Amendment rights. We are a pop culture, an asset to our communitie

s, contributors to the economy. In an era of self expression we are no longer the feared outlaws we were once regarded. Leathers, tattoos and wild hair today are kind of like the business casual of the 90’s; our acceptance extends beyond biker bars and strip clubs. We are world travelers, foodies, wine connoisseurs, admirers of fine art. We can educate the public to Look Twice for Motorcycles if we preach beyond our own forums. We can give the media a lesson in Anatomy/Physiology…that a helmet only protects a head, not your arms, legs, spine or internal organs and that yielding to the motorcycles right of way could save more lives than a helmet. Together, we’ll make Arizona the number one destination for motorcycle enthusiasts. Some roads were just made for motorcycles and Arizona has over 2,000 miles of pavement waiting to be explored; we’ll tell you Where to go…How to get there and what to expect along the way. We’ll keep you up to date on all biker events with our all inclusive, jam packed with information community calendar. Our online day ride and destination guide leaves nothing to chance; complete with directions, road descriptions, the weather, points of interest, handpicked motorcycle friendly businesses, photo opportunities, gas stations and emergency facilities. We’ll share everything you need to make your Arizona adventures your most memorable experiences.

Love to hear the stories...thank you for sharing!

My father, Chief Msgt Harley M. Jones, United States Air Force Ret, was a 23 year veteran of the Army Air Corp then Air Force. He was shot in France February 20, 1943. The parachute landed in a tree. When he cut himself out he fell and broke his leg. A French milkmaid found him and mentioned to someone in the bushes to come out of hiding. Harley was sure it was German soldiers. Thank goodness it was the French underground. They loaded him up in a wheelbarrow (painful) and took him to town to a doctor's house.

This doctor had been in a concentration camp but sent home when the Germans took over the town. He took care of my dad and placed him and one of his plane mates in the attic. Then he put up a sign say "typhoid" to keep the Germans from going upstairs. It worked.

Four months later the Canadian underground got my dad back to England where he was stationed.

I have a framed picture of the house he lived in during this time. It looks so quaint and peaceful.

My dad and mom stayed in touch with this family until my father passed away last year at the age of 92.

Harley served 3 terms as Commander of VFW Post 10139 and was an All-State Commander. He and I served as Commander and President twice.

My hero is my father, Levi Petrucci. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theater, as a Photographer's Mate stationed aboard the U.S.S. Eldorado. He enlisted on September 25, 1943, and was honorably discharged on March 19, 1946. But before that, he was a farm hand with a 10th grade education, the middle son of immigrants, born in a little coal mining town that no longer exists. But that didn't stop him from volunteering to leave his home, his family and friends, and everything he knew to risk his life in far off lands he'd never dreamed of seeing. His older brother, U.S.Army Staff Sergeant John J. Petrucci of the 756th Tank Battalion, died on November 20, 1945, in Italy, just prior to his scheduled discharge. My father inherited the flag that draped his coffin and now I am its caretaker, along with the flag handed to me by my father's VFW Commander at his funeral. As a member of the Honor Guard, my father had participated in many parades and funeral services for other fallen comrades and their tribute to him was beautiful and deeply appreciated. My father was proud of his country; proud of his military service, and a proud member of the VFW until the day he died.

Grandmother, Grandfather, Father, Mother, Brother, Sisters, Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, Friend... Hero ❤️

You probably wouldn’t believe me if I told you that Mike was number one in everything he did. Well, he was. He was always “in the groove” so to speak. That’s partly why he earned the nickname “Groove.” We met at the Naval Academy in the Summer of ’93 in boxing. He had just delivered a right cross to my nose which left me with a “distinguished” lean to the right side of my face ever since! We quickly became friends.

Groove and I wanted to be Navy SEALs when we graduated. He quickly developed a reputation among us Navy SEAL wannabes as someone to watch. There were only 16 slots available to over 900 graduates to attend BUD/S (Basic Underwater Demolitions/SEAL) training. To say it was competitive is an understatement. Groove set the bar by attending Army Airborne School, Army Combat Dive School, Air Force Freefall Parachuting School, and Mini-BUD/S (pre-SEAL training)–all during his Summer breaks–and graduated at the top of almost all of them. However, upon graduation he was not awarded one of the 16 annual SEAL Training slots, which surprised most of us.

As a testament to Groove’s perseverance and indomitable spirit, he did not let this setback dissuade him from his dream of becoming a Navy SEAL. Instead he went out to the Surface Navy, served honorably on a ship, and was awarded a transfer to SEAL training two short years later.

Our paths didn’t cross again until Groove was on his second SEAL deployment in Africa in 2003. It was a voluntary deployment for him. Only half of his task unit needed to deploy for 3 months on top of the 6 months they had just completed overseas. Of course Groove volunteered. He epitomized what it meant to be a selfless SEAL officer. We had a lot of fun together over those few months. Between missions we’d roll against each other in jiu-jitsu, lift weights, and drink beers when our schedule allowed. He had recently gotten married and just had a baby girl and never stopped talking about his new family. I remember feeling very happy for him. He returned home and deployed yet again a little over a year later–this time to Afghanistan. Sadly, I’d never see my brother Groove again.

On June 28, 2005 four of Groove’s teammates were pinned down by the Taliban in a fight for their lives. Groove and his SEAL squad, a Quick Reaction Force (QRF), immediately launched from base and flew to assist their comrades under fire. This type of mission is the most dangerous because the enemy knows you’re coming. As fate would have it the QRF Chinook helicopter was shot down on the way into the landing zone killing Groove and 15 other Americans aboard. Only one SEAL survived the entire mission. Marcus Luttrell, the lone survivor, survived in part because of the diversion that Groove and his men made for the attacking Taliban force. Groove was gone, and he left behind his wife, Laura, and his one-year old baby daughter. https://memberwhen.com/memorial-day-tribute/ #

Home of the Free because of the Brave

CPT Sara Knutson Cullen was a bright, energetic and caring person who left her mark on this world even though she was only here for 27 short years. She had an infectious, goofy laugh that carried through walls. She was a 2007 graduate of West Point - The U.S. Military Academy. Sara branched aviation and became a Blackhawk pilot. She was stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska, and deployed from there on a humanitarian mission to Pakistan. It was in Alaska that she met the love of her life, Chris. After getting married in November 2012, they moved to Hunter Army Airfield and she deployed to Afghanistan in January 2013. Her aircraft went down on March 11, 2013. Chris, who was in Afghanistan at the time, escorted her and her crew home. After her death, BG Chris Hughes wrote us that Sara "always spoke truth to power. But more importantly, she had an incredible sense of humor, contagious smile and made us all laugh even during dark and difficult times." She had a deep concern for her soldiers and went above and beyond to help them. I think she would be proudest of all the letters and stories by her soldiers on her influence on their lives. We found a book she was writing on her computer after she died and perhaps this is her legacy. Sara wrote, "There is only one thing that I know for sure. Only one fact in life that to me, is indisputable. Love is omnipotent. It cannot be defined, it cannot be measured, and it cannot be compared. It only belongs to those two souls lucky enough to stumble upon it and lives in the footprint that those hearts leave behind. This is the lesson of my life, the piece of truth that I will gladly float upon into the eternity of history. For my story will not be one known to mankind but my love was strong enough to change the world."

My Hero is my grandson SPC David T Proctor. As a retired Chief Warrant 4 with 31 years in uniform and 14 years as DOD contractor to support the young soldiers in arms-way. David Tyler was around his Granddad all his young life, he loved to come to my assigned post and salute and shake the hands of any soldier he would meet. He wanted to be like me and after completing college at UNC-Greensboro, he enlisted in the U.S. Army with the goal to be a Warrant Officer as a helicopter pilot. He wanted to do his initial tour in the Infantry, so after completing basic, he was assigned to 2nd battalion, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart. He was deployed to Afghanistan, Kandahar Province, Outpost on the Pakistan border. Nineteen months in his initial enlistment, he lost is life while on guard duty in his outpost. He only had 3 months remaining of his deployment and had already been accepted to WOC school and pilot training in Fort Rucker, AL. Tyler, as he always used his middle name, was living his dream to serve his country and living up to a commitment to be like his granddad. As an emigrant from Belgium in 1953, I repaid my adopted country with 45 years of service and the life of my only grandson. He is a Fallen HERO.
