We finished the McIntyre 900!

We’ve been looking forward to this event for a while, it was a different race format then what we are used to being in. 900km with 115km laps. The track had everything, sand, mud, whoops and long straights.

Dad and Troy started off the race and did 4 laps of the 115km loop, car was running awesome and changes we made to the suspension prior to the race was handling perfect.

On the fourth lap ready to swap drivers and fuel up, our exhaust was cracked thanks to Chris Vowles for welding it up and the Westlime race team for letting us borrow the generator. Once it was welded. myself and Benny jumped in and started the race for another 4 laps, first lap was awesome car was running great and faultless, second lap came around, the idler pulley on the back of the engine melted, so we lost the fan belt, we managed to fix it with a spare we had, it had a different offset and threw the fan belt off all the time. We put a nut on the inside so it lined up with the other pullys as best we could. We took off again only to make it 20 more kms, the belt came off again so we jumped out, found the belt and limped it home not going over 3 thousand revs. Big thanks to the recovery crew for helping us out. We got back to the pits and fuelled up. Thanks to John Price for the fuel pump. We grabbed a spare belt and 40kms in it popped off again, this time it shredded it, so we put the new one on, by this time it was it was late afternoon doing fifth gear with the sunset, we cruised home and by the time we got in it was 730pm at night. It was a good feeling coming over that finish line jump, big thanks to my navi Benny for the day.

We got 2nd in Class and also received the true grit award.

Huge thanks to all of our crew Mum, Pop, Nan, Ally & Suzy, couldn’t have done without everyone. Thanks to Michael Marson for the getting the box done, it was shifting beautifully. Congrats to Brett and his team on taking the win. Thanks to Mickey Thompson and Raceline Wheels Australia , the MTZ’s performed perfect. Thanks to the event organisers & Landowners for a great event, we can’t wait for next year.

- Blackie’s by the Sea was founded by William “Blackie” Blackstock in 1953. Just like today, during those early years, the peninsula was a bustling summer destination where tourists flocked to the beach to escape the inland heat in favor of cooler ocean breezes and frolicking on the beach.

New friends and old friends, we welcome you all (if you’re over 21 😉). See you at the bar tonight for 🍻
