Calling all tourism operators in the Solomon Islands! PTI Australia is excited to bring our Advanced Digital Tourism workshops to you, in collaboration with Australia's Strongim Bisnis! Our Digital Tourism Program provides Pacific tourism operators digital access and know-how to connect with our international markets. Our Advanced Digital Tourism workshops focus on online payments and processing, as well as how to increase direct bookings using Google’s ‘Digital Marketing Playbook’.

Session 1 covers ‘Payment Processing’. We look at secure and automated transactions for accommodation providers, showcasing Hotel Link Pay and LevartPay, and for tour providers via the Kovena Virtual Terminal

Session 2 covers ‘How to increase Direct Bookings’. We explore strategies for getting more bookings from your website (creating sustainable balance with the OTA's), and how to use Google My Business, Google Free Links and Google Hotel Ads.

We are running both sessions on two different dates:

Date: Monday 26th August
Time: 10am – 4pm
Venue: Heritage Park Hotel, Mendana Ave, Honiara

Date: Thursday 29th August
Time: 10am – 4pm
Venue: Marina Hotel, Lembu Bay, Noro, Western Province

On Wednesday, The Western Province Tourism Association (WPTA) convened for the first time since 2019, and we’re delighted to announce the new Committee:

President: Pana Paza
Vice-President: Hellen Tau
Treasurer: Jenno Hughes
Secretary: Jordie Maike

Presided over by the Minister for Tourism, Hon Ron Ghemu, the 30 tourism operators present strongly supported the incoming president, who used his opening speech to outline his vision for the future of tourism in the province. The message centred around inclusion, partnerships, and proactive growth:

“We call on every tourism operator around Western Province to join in as we work together in improving and supporting our Tourism Sector here in the West, and in our country, Solomon Islands, as a whole.”
