For those hitting the ocean and waves this summer.

This is really simple. You can spot a rip current. Unfortunately, it's where it looks easiest and safest to enter the sea. This is because the rip current is looping around and pulling back OUT. Hence no waves rolling IN. NEVER ENTER THE OCEAN HERE.

If you are already in the sea and get caught in a rip current (you'll know because you will suddenly be moved from your location and it will be impossible to swim against it) don't panic. Swim ACROSS, not against the rip current. For example, rather than trying to swim to shore while being pushed out, swim parallel to the beach and you will be able to get out. Then you can swim ashore. Please educate friends or family visiting the beaches this summer. Stay safe and aware.

Tillamook County on the Oregon Coast is drafting an Ordinance that would drastically change the outlook for Vacation Rentals on the Oregon coast (from Neahkahnie/Manzanita to the north to Neskowin at the south, including favorites such as Rockaway, Oceanside, Netarts, and Pacific City).

If this is a favorite vacation destination, and the experience is meaningful to you, please consider leaving a public comment for the County Commissioners (link below).

Craigslist IS NOT a good place to find your vacation rental! I’ve heard too many sad stories of disappointed guests who have lost money, hard earned vacation time, and dreams.

Not only that, Craigslist is not wonderful about taking down reported posts.

Just this morning I received a message from a vacationer pointing me to a Craigslist ad, asking if it was really mine, as my website calendar indicated we were full.

Do your research vacationers!
