Performing Smarts Act It Out Brilliantly! Eric Shovah- Artisic Director/Owner Full Scale productions to

As the Artistic Director of Performing SmArts, Eric Shovah is fortunate to follow both of his life’s passions – being an educator and entertainer. Eric currently teaches in a variety of settings. He can be found teaching summer camps, after school classes, workshops, private lessons, school drama programs, and anywhere there is a desire to learn the arts. A former classroom teacher, Eric now teach

es drama, musical theatre, circus arts, glee, magic, and a variety of visual arts. Whether working one-on-one or with groups of over 100, Eric is right at home. Eric shows this range as an entertainer too, working as an actor, director, designer, writer, choreographer and variety arts performer. He can be seen on stages across New York’s Capital Region such as the historic Cohoes Music Hall, Bardavon Opera House, Ulster Performing Arts Center, the Empire State Plaza and beyond, in feature films, and as a specialty performer to compliment any event. As a director, Eric has experience with large scale musicals, free-for-all comedies, and touching and poignant dramas. Currently, Eric can be seen as the host for Walmart commercials throughout the Capital District and beyond. Part Broadway, Part Vaudevillian, Part Humor – All Heart. As a performer, Eric has a wide range of talents to share. He is well-trained and devoted actor, an accomplished singer, an impov artist handy with an accent or impression, a comedic circus arts performer who jokes, juggles, balances, and much more! As an educator, Eric knows it is important to challenge himself and his students, encouraging growth as a person and performer for life. In short, Eric brings the positive energy, good humor, and support you need for any event or production!

Excited to announce that this winter/fall, we will be doing A Christmas Carol at BHBL Drama! We will be workshopping a new version of the play, adapted by Eric Shovah. This play with music is classic ghost story about how one night can change a man's whole life.

Hi all! Been enjoying my run in The Producers at SLOC but I finally have all my dates set for Peter and the Starcatcher. Auditions will be May 25-26 and the performances will be August 5-7. Announcement Number Two! Performing SmArts is excited to announce that the 2016 summer show will be Peter and the Starcatcher! A troupe of actors plays over 100 roles including pirates, jungle tyrants, unwilling comrades and unlikely heroes in a story about greed, despair, friendship, duty and love. Peter and the Starcatcher tells the story of a miserable orphan that becomes The Boy Who Would Not Grow Up, told through the use of creative staging and limitless imagination. Roles available for male and female students currently in 3rd-12th grade. Most roles in the show are open to males or females (in other words – gender blind casting). The show will be co-directed and co-choreographed by Eric Shovah and Heather D’Arcy, produced by Marlene Countermine, musically directed by Linda Zannitto, stage managed by Regina Baker, and designed by Eric Shovah. Performance dates, audition dates, and audition information will be posted soon!

Announcement Number One! Performing SmArts is proud to announce that we will be offering a memorial scholarship in honor of Marlene Countermine’s husband Don Countermine and Regina Baker’s daughter - Victoria Baker-Stenard who both passed away this year. The Countermine-Stenard Scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who has been involved in theatre with Performing SmArts. More information about how students can apply will follow in the weeks to come.
