Octopus's brain to body ratio is the largest of any invertebrate, and have demonstrated intelligence in a number of ways...

🧩 in experiments they’ve solved mazes and completed tricky tasks

🦀 they can learn and mimic other species' behaviour

💁 they appear to be able to recognise individuals, including human faces

🐙 they can even use tools, something relatively rare in the animal kingdom and normally associated with higher vertebrates and some birds

The veined octopus, also known as the coconut octopus, are known to collect discarded coconut and sea shells from the seafloor, give them a good clean with jets of water and then assemble them as a shelter 🥥 🐚

Then they carry the shells with them as some sort of underwater campervan, how cool is this? 😁

If you see seal 🦭on the beach, they are resting and recharging. Just like you. Give them the space they need. Stay at least 150-300 feet away. Call MERR Institute at 302-228-5029 if a seal appears injured.
