Looking forward to having Ashley and crew on the glacier again!

The dogs are getting ready to head to the Mendenhall Glacier once again with Ashley to give tours to guests and show off their amazing athleticism. A big thank you to our friends Torsten and Peggy for building us new trailer boxes so the dogs can ride comfortably, and in style on their way to Juneau 😎

Go Dogs Go! Matt and the Aces (along with a few other teams!) are currently camped out on their way to the coast! It's fun to see on the trackers when there is a handy shelter cabin or open creek that draws all the mushers to one spot for a camp.
Now with mandatory rest besides White Mountain completed for everyone neat the front of the pack, the race is going to go fast. Ticking down the last 300 miles of the race, I will be on a flight tomorrow evening to catch the Aces in Nome for whenever they come trotting through the finish line! It is such a tight race, its going to be an exciting time in Nome as those teams start rolling in one after another in a few days time!
After Unalakleet Matt and Team will make their way to Shaktoolik. A notoriously windy run and with the predicted storm, there will be some incredible stories for the mushers to tell I have no doubt! As I write this, the wind is even picking up for us here in the interior, brr! On from there, rough winds will turn to tricky ice as they all trot on to Nome. Let the fun begin!

Manager spotlight: Meet Matt Hall, our manager of Norris Glacier! Matt has been mushing for 30 years & this is his 14th year with our company. This is his second season managing the Norris. He loves being able to be with the dogs, and let them do what they love all summer long. Matt, Elke, and their dog team live outside of Fairbanks in the winter, where Matt competes in various dogsled races from the Iditarod, to the Yukon Quest 300 where he secured a victory this past year. Pictured with Matt is his newest puppy, Jack!

There’s nothing quite as cute & tired as a newborn puppy! It’s hard work getting cuddled and spending time with mom all day long!

Meet Sam Martin, our Musher of the week from Herbert Glacier! Sam has been mushing for 5 years with our company and says this is his favorite year so far! He loves working with such a great team on the Herbert. Mallet is his favorite dog 🐶. What’s cool about Mallet is that she’s the sweetest girl you’ll ever meet, the 2nd oldest dog in the yard, and a 2 time Iditarod finisher! Sam & Mallet had an amazing summer on the glacier and we are lucky to have them!

Meet the wonderful Kaytlyn Krish, our Musher of the week from Mendenhall Glacier! This is her 2nd year mushing & working for AIE. Ripley is Katelyn’s pet dog, and she is really goofy and fun to hangout with. She is super smart and knows a lot of cool tricks. Kaytlyn’s favorite part about camp is taking care of her dogs and making sure they are healthy and happy. Getting to run them out on the trail is her favorite part of each day! 🐾 Kaytlyn Krish

We are thrilled to announce the winner of the 2024 Iditarod Design Art Contest! The competition consisted of 30 entries from all over the State of Alaska, which were then put out for public voting to narrow it down to the Top 10. The design committee then chose the winning design based on originality, artistic ability and the adaptability of the design being produced on a multitude of products to promote the 2024 Iditarod. The winner of the art contest is Anchorage resident Cindy Pendleton.

Cindy was born and raised in Berkley, Michigan, moved to Alaska in 1967 and taught in the Anchorage School District for 27 years. Her love for Alaska and love for dogs made mushing a natural interest and she has been following the Iditarod since the year after its inception in 1973. She is an Iditarod Member, Iditarod Insider, enthusiastic fan and eight-year volunteer. Congratulations, Cindy!

We would like to thank all of the Alaskan artists that submitted designs and to all of Iditarod Nation for voting for your Top 10 favorites. We hope to make this an annual tradition and appreciate the involvement of everyone who participated!

Meet Clark Koerner, our Musher of the week from Norris glacier! Clark has been mushing on and off for 14 years and this is his second season with AIE. Grits is his strongest dog alongside his brother Bacon 🥓, which is impressive considering they’re both only 1 year old! Clark loves living in the Norris glacier community and learning a lot from manager Matt Hall.

Meet Zach Braley, our latest Musher of the week from Mendenhall Glacier! This is Zach’s 2nd season working with AIE. His favorite part about working on the Mendenhall is camping every night with his glacier family. Pictured with Zach is one of his favorite dogs, Scotty. Zach loves Scotty because he is one of his sweetest dogs, and absolutely loves to run 🏃‍♂️. Scotty doesn’t talk much, but when he does, he talks a lot 🐶🐾
