Discover the Culinary Legacy of Peru with Amazing Peru! ✨
Peru has recently been named as one of the world’s best culinary destination, and we’ve known all along that our gastronomy is truly exceptional! While we celebrate our renowned chefs, let’s also shine a light on the incredible talents of lesser-known chefs like Grimanesa Vargas. Her dedication to authenticity and flavor has earned her immense respect across the country.
Indulge in a gastronomic journey that transcends generations as we celebrate the iconic dish of “anticuchos” - a beloved Peruvian street food that tells a story of resilience, tradition, and culinary excellence.
Anticuchos, traditionally made from tender beef heart marinated in a rich blend of spices, have evolved into a symbol of Peru’s vibrant food culture. Their journey reflects the rich tapestry of our history, originated from our Inca civilisation and influenced by the arrival of Spanish colonisers and African slaves who transformed simple ingredients into a culinary masterpiece.
At the heart of this legacy is ‘Grimanesa Vargas’ - an inspiring culinary icon who has dedicated nearly 50 years to perfecting her craft. Starting with just 2 dollars in her pocket, Grimanesa began her journey in 1974, selling her famous anticuchos from a humble street cart. Her passion and commitment to quality quickly made her a household name, drawing long lines of eager customers, including celebrated renowned chefs like Gastón Acurio.
Today, at 82 years young, Grimanesa continues to inspire with her unparalleled dedication and love for Peruvian cuisine. Her restaurant, Grimanesa Vargas Anticuchos, has been recognized as the “Best Huarique” in Perú and showcases a testament to her culinary brilliance and the heart she pours into every dish.
