BookWORMS Bindery Bookbinding, Workshops, Book Repair Welcome to my FB page! I am Jan Lill Worms, a Bookbinding Master and a Certified Zentangle ® Teacher. bookbinding!

I have more than 400 hours of “at the bench” bookbinding training and I am a graduate of Hollander’s School of Bookbinding and Paper Arts in Ann Arbor, Michigan. I am privileged to have studied with some of the finest hand bookbinders of this generation, including Monique Lallier, Julia Miller, Hedi Kyle, Chela Metzger, Pamela Spitzmueller, Anna Embree, Barbara Korbel, Richard Horton, and Tom & Ci

ndy Hollander. Although Hollander’s school closed in June, 2013, their shop continues to offer the best and finest selection of bookbinding supplies and decorative paper. I am so very thankful to have had the opportunity to study at Hollander’s. During my time there I grew to love Ann Arbor and remain ever grateful to Tom and Cindy for truly changing my life through the wonderful workshops offered at their school. And then there is the bookbinder who started it all, Angela Finet. In September 2007 I took two bookbinding workshops with Angela at Prairie Art Stamps in Springfield, Illinois, and found my passion . . . I see Angela all too infrequently, but always remind her that she “started it” for me. Angela owns a delightful shop in Reston, Virginia, a DC suburb. At “A Happy Stamper” you’ll find all the latest and best stamp and paper craft items and a full schedule of workshops. In October 2010 I traveled to Whitinsville, Massachusetts to become a Certified Zentangle teacher. I was in the fourth group trained by Maria Thomas and Rick Roberts, creators of this gorgeous art form. I love to bind books. I really love to teach. On my page, you’ll learn about my workshops, both past and upcoming. I welcome inquires for book repair, Bible repair, custom journals and photo albums, and workshops. I welcome requests to teach and am willing to travel. My bookbinding studio is in my home in a small Southern Illinois town about 25 miles east of Saint Louis, Missouri. I hope that you enjoy my page. Please browse my posts, contact me with any questions and I certainly welcome your comments! I promise to reply to your comments and I would be honored to have you follow me on this page. All the best to you and yours,

Jan

Silver and Suede Journal
Friday, August 7 4:15-6:15 PM

Students will choose a piece of colored suede for their
cover. This five section journal is sewn with a fine linen
which causes the beads to appear to be “floating” along the
spine. A large center bead is bracketed by two Czech glass
beads. A heavy paper for the sections adds to the heft of
this journal, which opens perfectly flat. Class fee includes
written instructions & all materials needed to complete one
journal. Jan is a bookbinding master and a graduate of
Hollander’s School of Book and Paper Arts.

You will treasure this gorgeous book! You'll use paper from the Graphic 45 "Come Away with Me" collection to create a stunning French door book. Holding the cover closed is a latch reminiscent of a luggage clasp. Open the journal and you'll find vintage travel images and journaling cards. Two text blocks provide room to record memories and to paste favorite photos, tickets or other small memorabilia. The book is covered with linen book cloth. You'll learn the "laced dash" stitch trimmed with glass beads to sew your book with Irish waxed linen. Your class fee includes all materials and written instructions so you can create as many more of these charming journals as you would like.

Souvenir of Paris Journal
Friday, April 10 -- 8:30 - 11:30 at Artiscape, Dublin, Ohio.
To register: www.europeanpapers.com.

"Ooh-la-la! You'll enjoy creating a "vintage" Souvenir of Paris Journal in this class. You will choose your cover paper from a variety of vintage Paris papers (two of the choices are pictured). Then select one of several colors and embossed designs to paste inside the cover. Decide how to attach the charming Eifel tower charm to the French faux-suede cover. Maybe you prefer the charm to nestle close to the spine. Perhaps you'd rather use your charm to make a bookmark or to have it dangle from the spine of the book. Then feel free to bling up your book with a few beads. You will learn how to sew your book using the lovely, lacey French stitch. All of the materials you will need to design your own Souvenir of Paris Journal are provided, along with complete written instructions. Handouts Provided"
