We continue recognizing our Lifestyle team members this week, and today, we are celebrating Angela Owens, our Lifestyle Director at Vi at Highlands Ranch in Colorado!

She first joined Vi in 2015 as a Lifestyle Assistant. Since joining she was promoted to Lifestyle Coordinator and then again to her current role. Angela, like all of our Lifestyle team members, stays busy. Her role includes organizing events and activities, fitness, and transportation for our residents. Angela's days are filled with planning, scheduling, and lots of social interaction with residents, but most importantly fun!

When Angela isn't running around the community, you can find her enjoying nature and checking out restaurants around Denver from which she often takes inspiration for Vi events and activities!

Today, we are recognizing the fabulous Lifestyle team at Vi at Silverstone in Scottsdale, AZ. The team is comprised of Teri Larson, Lifestyle Manager, and Lifestyle Coordinators, Laura Rodriguez and Carole Whitlock.

Laura started her Silverstone career as a concierge in September 2020. In the spring of 2022, Teri was recruited as the Lifestyle Manager. She soon recognized Laura’s potential, and when a full-time position in the Lifestyles department opened later that summer, she knew Laura was the perfect fit. In the spring of 2023, Carole was hired for an on-call Lifestyle position. When one of our full-time positions became available, Carole stepped in to fill the roll through the holidays.

The highlight of the trio's day starts off with making eye contact with almost every single resident by delivering the Daily Chronicle and morning word games. This opportunity is also beneficial for a daily reminder of the events scheduled for the day. They all enjoy lifelong learning with a positive attitude which overflows to residents’ desire to have fun as well. The team ends their day with a smile knowing that they have enriched their residents’ day!

We continue celebrating our wonderful Lifestyle staff during Lifestyle Appreciation Week, and today we are recognizing Christine Petit, Fitness Coordinator at Vi at Highlands Ranch !

Christine began working at the Colorado community August of last year. As a Fitness Coordinator, her daily responsibilities include creating fun and yet effective fitness classes.

"I truly enjoy coming to work. The staff here shows values, respects, and treats each other with kindness. The residents are amazingly kind and appreciative of all employees treating us like family," Christine shared.

When Christine is off the clock, she stays active. Exploring the outdoors, whether it be by bike, UTV or hiking in canyons.

We are pleased to welcome Karen Cornelius to the Vi team as the VP and Chief Risk Officer at our corporate office in Chicago.

Karen has over 20 years of experience in the risk management and insurance field. She joins us from Revantage where she most recently was the Sr. AVP of Insurance Procurement, serving Blackstone’s real estate portfolio companies.

Previously Karen worked at Loyola University as the Director of Risk Management & Insurance as well she was the Director of Risk Management at Enlivant, which owned and operated hundreds of senior living communities across the U.S. She also worked as an underwriter at Chubb, including significant experience with directors' and officers' liability and employment practices liability. Karen earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Illinois and an MBA from DePaul University.
