Now online - the Manaslu Circuit. This 11-day trek on an uncrowded trail is perfect for anyone looking for remoteness, to experience the Tibetan Buddhist culture up close and the exhilaration of crossing a 5000m+ Pass.
Note, the climbing season for Manaslu is autumn so any departures during that time will see the Manaslu Base Camp in full swing (provided you go there on the acclimatisation day).

We're bringing on this 11-day trek (16-17 days UK-to-UK) for 2025. In a similar fashion to the Annapurna Circuit, most of the route is below 3500m. It rises briefly to clear the 5167m Larkya La pass. Great trek, no crowds.
This trek circumnavigates the 8163m Mt Manaslu, the 8th biggest mountain on the planet.
The developing success of this trek is largely down to Jit, who was tasked with developing the tea houses along the route. He obviously did a good job!

Which Base Camp? ... why mess about, just go to both 😀
It's not just about the base camp itself (no contest in that regard), it's more about the journey to it too. Two very different treks and experiences.
If my memory serves me correctly, the guy on the right was due to go EBC, and due to weather conditions, was forced to switch to ABC, and loved it.

Travel and Education ... there is nothing better than travel to educate kids. The kids in the photo are 14 & 9 years old at the time, P**n Hill is at an altitude of 3200m and it's about 0600 hrs. They loved it, and they remember it to this day. Make memories while they're young.

Svalbard Arctic Challenge ... a second set of dates (13 - 25 May 2025) has now been added, the first set is almost full.
As a former Arctic Survival Instructor, this was my bread and butter for many winters in Norway. I still love this beautiful environment and yes the temperatures can be cold but to quote Sir Ranulph Feinnes 'there is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing'.

Goodnight Svalbard ... spare a thought for this winter wonderland. Direct sunlight will not be seen on this land again until 15 Feb 2025, 111 days away!
Conversely, in May (when our group is out there), the sun will not dip below the horizon throughout their time there. Classic midnight sun.

Finland Novice Arctic Wilderness Expedition ... group FULL. What a great effort by Beaumond House Hospice Care to fill this adventure, which let's be honest, is not everyone's cup of tea!
Designed for novices with no winter camping experience or touring on skis, they will head off into the Arctic Wilderness with no set plan other than to explore and survive! Led by a professional guide, this is an excellent challenge worthy of any sponsorship. Hats off. They go in Mar 2025.

Annapurna Circuit … good news as the girls have successfully crossed the Thorong La. Windy and cold (it’s rarely anything but), but relatively snow free on the trail as you can see.
Having stayed in Muktinath last night, they will be closing in on Jomson by now, if not already there.
They can relax on a challenge well done, the Pass is not easy.
Love this trek and I look forward to their photos.

Annapurna Circuit … with the acclimatisation ground work done, it is time to head over the mighty 5416m Thorong La Pass. The recent late monsoon may have brought the snow in but only they will know when they get on the approach.
The terrain and cultural difference between the Manang side and where you are going is huge.

Manang Horse Riding Festival
Annapurna Circuit … a surprise was in store for the girls who arrived in Manang to see the Manang Riding Festival.
Nepal ... finally the weather has turned, at least above 3000m. After their forever-changing adventure so far, they deserve the break. I predict the weather will hold, at least until they return. They will be in Khumjung tonight. It's a short (but hilly) hop to Tengbouche tomorrow.
Fridgeman is on his way ... he arrived a few days ago, and as you can see, set about the fridge to get it exactly how he wanted it to be. Today is Day 2 of his climb, so he will be at Shira Camp (3500m) by now. A reminder that although he's on the Lemosho route now, tomorrow he heads north to go around the Northern Circuit.
