How do you rate our community services?

What types of development in the city would you like to see?

How do you rate your neighborhood?

What stores would you like downtown?

You now have the opportunity to answer these as well as other questions important to the future of our city. The City of Oregon is currently updating its Comprehensive Plan to guide future growth, redevelopment and identify needed community improvements. To guide this effort, the City would like your input. Please take a few minutes to complete our survey. The survey can be found online at: www.surveymonkey.com/r/Oregon_Comprehensive_Plan_Survey

or fill out a paper copy available at City Hall, Nash Rec Center or the library. Surveys must be completed by 12/30/2015.

The objective of Oregon’s Comprehensive Plan update is to address changing demographic and economic conditions, local land use changes, and new ideas to create a realistic and workable plan for the City’s future over the next 10 years. Once done the results will be reviewed by the Planning Commission and the Economic and Community Development Commission. After their input a draft plan will be presented to the community at a town hall meeting in the Coliseum. Public input will be reviewed and then the plan will be brought before the council for a vote. This entire process should be completed by mid March.

Please participate; it is your city, your plan, your future.

We are always humbled by the large number of supporters that attend our annual dinner. We were filled to our 320 capacity again this year. Congratulations to Jennifer Hobbs, Diane Bicknese, Julius Dursch, Ralph Miller, and Jason Roinas who were all presented with achievement awards. Best of luck to our scholarship recipients Brandon Wagner, Matthew Crandall, and Brianna Letson as they move on to college. We honored the years of support from our Business of the Year - Plymouth Yarn Company and our Volunteer of the Year - Tom Wadsworth. Special recognition was given to the A. Charles and Lillemore Lawrence Foundation for their generous support of the Attendance Grant Program, which allows consumers attend the Village without the state funding normally required to cover costs. We exist to provide opportunities to individuals with developmental disabilities. Thanks to everyone involved for helping to bring the Village to the Community and the Community to the Village.

WINTER STORM WARNING
The Ogle County Sheriff's Office will post information throughout the event on social media and www.oglecounty.org website. Please plan ahead and limit travel during the night time hours.

NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE:
Snow tonight through Saturday with significant accumulation expected in some areas.

The first accumulating snow of the season will unfold across the region beginning this evening and persisting through the day Saturday. Precipitation will likely transition from a rain and snow mix early this evening to all snow later tonight. Warm ground temperatures, especially pavement, will initially limit accumulations on surfaces this evening. However snowfall rates are expected to increase overnight through Saturday morning and will allow for snow to accumulate at a quicker rate. Snowfall amounts will likely vary from 3 to 6 inches near the Interstate 80 corridor, to as much as 8 to 10 inches across North Central Illinois. Lighter amounts of snow, generally 2 to 5 inches, are likely along the immediate shores of Lake Michigan, including Chicago, due to slightly warmer surface temperatures.

Winter Storm Warning in effect from 6 PM this evening to 3 PM CST Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow, which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to 3 PM CST Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch is no longer in effect.

Timing: A rain and snow mix early this evening will quickly transition to a wet snow and persist through early to mid afternoon on Saturday, with snow briefly heavy at times.
Snow accumulations: 7 to 11 inches.
Impacts: potential exists for difficult driving conditions and sharply reduced visibilities.
The first accumulating snow of the year can catch motorists off guard. Ensure to plan accordingly and use extra caution if traveling
