Disney Cruise Line has shared more details on the expansion of its award-winning fleet, including the introduction of a new class of vessel and the addition of a fourth ship in the Wish class. These ships, which will debut between 2027 and 2031, will be constructed at the Meyer Werft shipyard in Papenburg, Germany, and designed by Walt Disney Imagineering.

New Ship Class

The three vessels in Disney’s new ship class will feature industry-leading technology and design to expand Disney Cruise Line’s global reach and support its environmental goals. Able to carry 3,000 Guests and measuring approximately 100,000 gross tons, they will be 20% larger than the Disney Magic class and smaller than the Disney Dream and Disney Wish classes, ultimately allowing Disney Cruise Line to access more ports and destinations across the globe, bringing its world-class entertainment, incredible dining, Guest service, and uniquely Disney experiences to more families in more places. The three ships are planned for delivery in 2029, 2030 and 2031.

Among the lightest cruise ships of their size in the industry, the new vessels will save fuel with a streamlined hull, next-generation power and propulsion systems, and numerous other operations optimized for energy efficiency. In addition to an innovative design and the efficient use of building materials from bow to stern, the ships will be outfitted with energy-efficient systems and a battery system to support and supplement the main engines.

When in port, the new vessels can rely on shore power technology to turn off their engines and “plug in” to a port’s energy grid to run onboard systems. They will also have the capability and flexibility to operate on a variety of fuels, including hydrotreated vegetable oil and renewable methanol fuels, while remaining adaptable to additional fuel options that become available to the cruise industry. The new class will also continue Disney Cruise Line’s long-standing initiatives to minimize waste, conserve water and align with The Walt Disney Company’s 2030 environmental goals.

Fourth “Wish Class” Ship

In addition to this new class of vessel, Disney Cruise Line will introduce an additional sister ship to the Disney Wish, Disney Treasure, and Disney Destiny. The ship, set for delivery in 2027, will be approximately 144,000 gross tons, accommodate 4,000 Guests, and be powered by liquefied natural gas.

The four ship names, onboard experiences, itineraries and designs are still in development - stay tuned for updates!

Happy Friday, everyone!

We're having an absolute blast on the Disney Treasure, and our crew just found some incredible new photo ops that are only available on this ship & only on sea day mornings.

At Worlds of Marvel, we took part in a fantastic photo shoot, complete with Captain America's shield and Thor's hammer - it was truly epic! The photographer really took her time capturing all the perfect shots. I think she took a zillion pics of all of us — individually, as couples & as a larger group.

The second photo op was IN the Haunted Mansion Parlor. Just a few quick shots with the "Donald" chair & a sprinkle of Disney magic.

Now I'm wishing I'd packed more themed outfits, especially after seeing hubby's awesome Captain America photos!

So many fun & amazing things to do on this ship!

For the foodies! Kick off your cruise with a wine & small bites pairing adventure through Italy. Prima Notte at Palo Steakhouse on the Disney Treasure features 5 wines paired with 4 delectable bites — tuna, gnocchi, wagyu beef & a chocolate pillow. This experience is led by the sommelier who provides knowledge about both the wines & food.

Prima Notte is only an hour long & is not meant to replace your dinner in the main dining rooms, but to be a savory taste of Palo. We had the 6:45p Prima Notte time followed by dinner at Plaza de Coco at 8:15p. (I wasn’t very hungry, but we still caught the show.)

Prima Notte, of course, means “first night”. It is only available on the first night of your cruise. This is a popular experience fleetwide & I’m told it usually sells out. I was excited to try this & would definitely do it again!

National Geographic has announced the premiere date for their special about Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point!

The Magic of Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point will premiere on January 17, 2025 at 10PM/9 Central, on National Geographic.

The special will become available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu on February 17.
