Exploring North Vietnam with

We spent nine incredible days soaking in the beauty of North Vietnam, from the vibrant streets of Hanoi to the calm waters of Halong Bay. But nothing compared to the Ha Giang Loop—a motorbike ride through winding mountain roads with the wind in our faces, and a campsite so stunning it could have been plucked from a postcard. It honestly took our breath away!

It’s been inspiring to see the strength and resilience of communities in Asia following the impact of Typhoon Yagi. Our Seek Sophie guides in North Vietnam are working hard to recover as well.

We know some of you are concerned about your upcoming trips, but we encourage you to keep you bookings if you are able to. We believe that tourism can be a powerful way to support local businesses as they rebuild, and your visit would mean the world to them especially during this recovery period. Many places, including the hardest hit areas like Sapa and Cat Ba are already reopening (check out our Typhoon Yagi highlight stories for details!), and many of our guides have started accepting bookings again.

Hipster haven meets jungle getaway: This is Chiang Mai with 🥰

Chiang Mai is our favourite city in Thailand because it has a mix of everything we love — all things nature, adventure, artsy, with the perfect amount of chill!

Some of our favourite moments were spent:
✨ spending time with gentle giants in their natural environment
✨ disconnecting from the world at a super cool jungle art camp
✨ beautiful nature hikes and rafting

Going on a kayak trip with the team at The Unexpected is super mysterious - each trip is highly dependent on the tides, so we might not know the route for the day until the last moment! Think of it like kayaking, Omakase style - you don't know what you're going to get, but trust your guide and you'll have the best time!⁠

📣 New adventure unlocked! Introducing @‌seeksophie’s that no one has heard of — Sumba, Indonesia

A well-kept secret among travellers, we were first drawn to Sumba for its epic Icelandic landscapes that look straight out of a Wes Anderson film (swipe to see!)

The best thing? Sumba is so remote and unknown that we practically had the whole island to ourselves. Here, centuries old villages have remained unchanged. Life is simpler and time moves slower, reminding us of what travel used to be like.

Happy International Women’s Day! Today’s all about celebrating the amazing women in our lives! Swipe to meet some of the superheroes we get to work with – each one a total force in her community!

Tourism in Asia (and everywhere, honestly!) is a bit of a boys’ club. The women who break through tend to be total badasses. And the amazing thing is, they’re not just out there hustling (which is seriously inspiring), they’re also lifting up whole communities with them.

Who’s having Taylor concert withdrawals already?! 🙋🏻‍♀️ We still can’t get over Monday night’s concert - it was insane.

Loved seeing everyone’s era outfits (that guy with the Reputation album drawn on his face wins!). And the sets were seriously out of this world. The best experience in Bali that only few know about: camping at lake Tamblingan 😌✨

When we did this experience earlier this year, we thought it would just be a simple forest hike. But it turned out to be so much more than that and it’s now our favourite Bali experience!

Hike under towering centuries-old trees, soak in epic waterfalls, canoe across the peaceful Tamblingan lake, discover ancient temple and camp under the stars 🤩

Since then, we’ve raved about it to our friends and family, sent our Seek Sophie creators on it, and you guys have booked it too!

We love sharing Seek Sophie experiences like these with you. Experiences that we really love and vouch for, would do again in a heartbeat, and want everyone else to experience 🥰

Fansipan is super tough and should only be for people who want to challenge themselves, and say they’ve hiked the highest mountain in Indochina!

Here are our top 5 tips.
1. Difficulty: This is a very difficult hike with lots of ladders and boulders, so you should definitely be physically and mentally prepared!
2. Best way to see it: You can choose to do a one day or 2D1N hike. We’d recommend doing the 2D1N hike so that you can see Fansipan at sunrise. But you should definitely take a cable car down, because the route down is exactly the same as up and not interesting enough!
3. Accommodation: If you do the 2D1N, you’ll stay in super basic mountain huts at the top. It’s likely to be noisy so don’t expect much sleep.
4. Weather: Fansipan is notorious for clouds, mist and fog and the beautiful view at the summit might be covered by fog so it will always be a gamble! But your chances of clear weather are highest in the dry season from late September to early December!
5. Don’t do Fansipan and a Sapa trek back to back. Give yourself a break in between to rest. Trust us, you’ll need it!
