This is what we were greeted with in the morning of our first chase in 3 years. Not ideal, but fortunately we are heading way out East of here.

Forget the 10% hatched tornado risk in Texas and Oklahoma. Here’s a highlight from my late evening chase in the Peak District. Could it be? Could it? No, of course it’s not. Well that de-escalated quickly. Turned into a big pile of rain, barely a hint of rotation and its moving way too fast. On to the pop up dryline storms further south in the hope they will do something.

This is what they mean by that phrase “long-tracked violent tornado”. This one has been on the ground for well over 30 miles and shows no sign of letting up. Classic cyclic supercell. Get a load of that hook in the reflectivity and the couplets in the velocity. Sadly some towns in Western AL have taken direct hits, and at least 3 fatalities have been confirmed.
