A pruning journey at SOF ✂️
I’ve been on a pruning spree in my business.
👉 I’ve taken things out of my diary and work life
👉 We closed the SOF Collective membership in December
👉 We’re hosting fewer virtual classes
👉 The SOF facilitator team is doing more of the corporate work
👉 I’m heavily investing in the business
Much like pruning a plant, I’m not stripping things back to make the business smaller or less effective. I’m priming it for growth. 🌷
My current priority? Getting the ‘back office’ sorted out.
This means new people joining the team, implementing new systems/processes, putting a project management system in place, refining roles and responsibilities, and agreeing on/communicating ways of working as a team.
Read: all the things I find challenging!
Thankfully, I have an understanding and talented team to help achieve this. It takes way more time than I think it should and I’m desperate to crack on and get creative.
Yet, there’s no point in me throwing *another* idea into the mix and sending people into a tailspin 😉
Leadership 🤝 management. The former lifts the idea off the ground while the latter runs a tight ship. Both are essential!
To nurture your business (and life!)... what are you pruning this March? 👇
Word of the month: growing 🌻
📖 "Becoming greater over a period of time; increasing."
We often talk about growth in the context of perseverance or striving for achievement.
But growth happens all the time, everywhere, in everything that we do.
In many cases, we’re growing without even realising it.
🌻 Personal growth is growth
🌻 Business growth is growth
🌻 Muscle growth is growth
🌻 Relationship growth is growth
Not all progress can be measured through huge milestones. The biggest changes start with small, incremental steps.
“You are slowly growing, but you are still growing and that is enough” - Dhiman
This August, where do you want to grow? 🌻
What do we mean by ‘hybrid working’? 💻
In a nutshell, it’s a type of flexible working where people split their time between the office and a location of their choice, like home.
According to research by Barco, 29% of meetings in the future will be hybrid, so business owners need to be prepared for this statistic to become a reality - and fast.
In our Hybrid Meetings Workshop, we’ll give you the lowdown on how to design and run hybrid meetings. Let us walk you through some of the steps so that you can make the leap to hybrid with confidence.
This workshop is made for you if:
✅ You’re a facilitator who works both online and in-person
✅ You occasionally struggle with the tech piece of Zoom/Teams meetings

Embracing the butterfly years 🦋
Our June pod is on a very niche topic - and one I’m really excited to hear about.
“Making the menopause mainstream” is the catchphrase of our guest expert, Bev Thorogood.
Her mission statement is equally enthralling:
“Helping businesses retain valuable female talent through menopause awareness training. Helping women over 40 rediscover their confidence and thrive through midlife and beyond.”
*SEE! The menopause isn’t just about women* 😉
As we live longer, work for longer and run businesses well into retirement… isn’t it right that we understand the innate humanness that creates those businesses?
At SOF, we certainly prioritise exploring all sides of the coin - and enjoying the midlife years is a little talked about topic that we’re looking forward to exploring.
Bev’s session is on June 10th, from 9am - 10am (UK).

Have you heard about the Collective?
The SOF collective is a community for lifelong learners who want meaningful and authentic connections. It's a space that enables you to orientate yourself with your own learning journey, so you go wiser and more confidently in building your facilitation capability plus evolve your business to better serve your clients and learners.

Hello there 2022! Does anyone else feel like 2021 was both slow and fast? Up and down? Exciting and dull?
As we welcome another new year now is the time to start thinking about your learning goals for the year ahead. Where do you see yourself in the next 6 or 12 months? What is it you want to learn, develop or evolve?
At SOF we talk about CLUB, the four pillars of a successful facilitator/trainers business. This year are you focusing on your clients, who they are and how to talk to them? Or is it about your Learners and how you design fantastic learning solutions, maybe you are looking at U and how you are showing up or maybe your Business needs some TLC.
I'd love to know so leave your goals in the comments below.
This is a last call to join us for a fascinating event this Friday 18th June!
At our next quarterly gathering we'll be joined by Catherine Pugh who will share compelling research about the impact of Covid-19 on the L&D Profession.

FLOW
This field of grass caught my eye today as the wind whipped through it.
The grass let itself go with the flow of the wind.
It didn't fight to be upright and straight.
It held its self in the ground with its roots and then waved and bend as it was buffeted by the ever increasing winds.
At times we benefit from going with the flow of the wind and not fighting against it.
Trust that your roots are strong and grounded and will hold you in place.
Where in your life, work or world would you benefit from blowing in the wind instead of fighting against it?
