Sending love and praying for safety for all impacted by 🌀Beryl. At a Glance this could be really bad for the Lesser Antilles. If you don’t know where those are, they are located south of Dominican Republic and just below Puerto Rico. I’ve circled them below. It includes Barbados and St Lucia, who are now closed to incoming tourists. Outbound flights are still hustling to get out.

Hurricane 🌀 Beryl is located a few hundred miles east of the Caribbean.

Beryl is forecast to become at least a 3 and possible Category 4 hurricane before reaching the Windward Islands Monday.

After that, its future in the rest of the Caribbean Sea is uncertain later this week.

It could pose a threat to several other islands and Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula which includes Cancun, Riviera Maya and Isla/Playa Mujeres.

Please remember people over vacations. People over everything. These islands know how to handle this but it doesn’t make it any less scary or life threatening.

Saturday Beryl Thoughts and Hurricanes 101. Here are some reminders.

1. Track updates from the NHC come out every 6 hours. 11 am/pm and 5am/pm. Other advisories are issued, but track updates only 4 times a day.

2. I can only find 1 other time a hurricane has formed in this part of the ocean. (1933). So yeah, it's rare. Is it the new norm with warmer water? Guess only time will tell.

3. Beryl is small, and not expected to become a sprawling storm. So impacts on islands in the Windwards, as well as other potential spots, will likely be limited.

4. When you hear "maximum winds" with a storm, that is usually in a very small area. (Typically North and East of the Center and maybe 5-15 miles.) It isn't the entire wind field...not even close.

5. Models still keep this way to the South of Florida. Euro (right now) takes it to Central America and the GFS eventually brings it across the Yucatan.

6. Vacationers and cruisers will need to monitor, but again, this is a small (in terms of size) storm.

7. Rule #7. Nothing to freak out over at this time. Tropical systems are notorious for changes, and small systems are even more vulnerable to rapid change in track and intensity. Keep it here for reliable track information. Our team will be on it 24/7.
