Yesterday was the last day of 11 weeks that we spent on the Apple Isle 🍏🍎😢
We have loved everything and everywhere we have been.
It’s beaches, it’s wilderness, it’s national parks, it’s wildlife, it’s bakeries, it’s people, it’s scenery, IGA’s, waterfalls, fungi’s, flowers, turquoise waters.
We have missed out on a few places so we have a list happening for the next trip.
Last few pics are from Port Sorell and Devonport foreshore

Not sure how to describe it but there were a lot of everything. Dinosaurs, of course Easter bunnies, Harry Potter, Christmas, Alice in Wonderland, Disney, Haunted house, a cafe, homewares, toys of all sorts and lots more. Oh did I say a disco 🪩 toilet room 🤣

We waved our friends Johno, Julie, Jamie and Glenys off this morning back to Geelong. 👋🏻🛳️🌊
Our turn comes tomorrow night. All good things must come to an end and Tasmania has been extremely good.
Off for another drive down to Latrobe. A beautiful park with walking and bike tracks, a big platypus and the Axemans Hall of Fame. We also had the pleasure to chat to one of the inductees Bruce Hays, whom now volunteers at the museum and also sells his wood turned items.

Today we visited Beaconsfield.
The mine site is now closed but is still accessible via the museum and heritage centre. Lots of items from yesteryear so well presented.
The tragic events of the mine collapse back in 2006 is well documented and everything involved in those 14 days of the successful rescue is here to be seen.

Today we left Old Mac’s Farm at Launceston and headed to East Devonport in readiness for our return boat trip.
The animals were all out watching their new friends leaving 😢
This afternoon we watched the SOT arriving while we were walking along the foreshore near our van park.

The following pictures were taken in Launceston.
How can you have a beautiful Gorge less than 2 mins from the town centre?
And what is this monkey sanctuary doing in the city park?
Oh and some beautiful flowers too

Today we visited Tunnel, Bridport, Georgetown and Low Head.
The day started out misty and cloudy and usually clears but by mid morning it was still very gloomy. This made our visit to a unused railway tunnel even more pleasant 😅
When we arrived there were two young guys that had put their cars on the railway tracks on special rims. They were back to back and joined with the tow bars. I would not have believed it if I hadn’t seen it. In the tunnel it was a little wet but ok.
Over 700m in length and made in 1888. It was a great site to see.
On to see Barnbougle Golf Course very similar to Magenta back home.
First silos we have seen in Tassie were in Georgetown and that’s all there is to see.
Lighthouse was at Lowhead and every Sunday at 12 noon they blow the only working foghorn in Australia.
More magnificent wood carvings, this time an ocean/sea theme.

Yesterday we headed towards Launceston, passed Derby and stopped off at Legerwood where there is an amazing tribute to the young men of the town that went off to WW1. Each monument is carved out of the trees that were planted when they left. Such a moving dedication that is now looked after by volunteers.
Set up camp at Old Macs Farm for the long weekend here.
Lots of day trips to do from here.

Today we started our homeward bound journey towards Devonport. 1 week before we board the SOT 😢
So much more still to see. Oh well looks likes another trip to Tassie is on the cards
Stopped today at the Pub in the Paddock at Pyengana with Priscilla the beer drinking pig 🐷
Unhooked and found St Columba Falls then Pyengana Dairy and Cheese factory for lunch. This was the first farm to use the robotic milking system.
Dinner was at the pub and a very short stroll to the van

Another day in paradise
We drove a little north to The Gardens. On one side of the road glorious coastline and on the other, rural properties with cows and sheep. Another place I could live in the summer time.
Talking to a lady agreeing on the views and she said that she has lived in Tasmania all her life and she has never been to The Gardens 😲
A couple of rock pools had crabs and fish in them, just like a fish tank.
Visited St Helen’s after lunch and we had haircuts then back to camp and a walk along the beach.
Afternoon drinks were had with John and Annette, fellow Masterpiece owners.

Today we travelled about 30mins up the coast to Cosy Corner Nth Beach Camp.
This is still part of the Bay of Fires coastline.
White soft sand, turquoise water and orange stained boulders.
How can this be so amazing different 🤍🩵🧡
Found a nice little starfish too.
And some nice pink clouds to finish the day off.
Happy Anniversary to us 💘

After spending yesterday indoors due to the 50kms winds(again) oh and the footy started 🙄, we went sightseeing again.
First stop was Falmouth Beach view from the top and bottom.
Next stop we had lunch on Burns Bay beach.
Then on to the other side of St Helen’s Point, Peron Dunes.

Beautiful roses near the water refill in Bicheno this morning. Headed further up the East Coast to Scamander. It’s just south of St Helens. Lots of washing to do so staying in C’van park.
Washing on line, so we headed to Binalong Bay which is part of the Bay of Fires. Lots of stunning coastline, white sand and turquoise water.

A short day trip up the coast to Bicheno. The swell wasn’t too big today so the Blowhole wasn’t pumping to high but it was still spectacular to be up close to it.
A walk along the bay for some more pics then up to the Whalers Lookout for the view from the top.
Lunchtime had us head to The Devils Corner Winery on a recommendation from our neighbours at camp.
Pizza and wine for me and Fishermans Lunch and Beer for Ray. And what a beautiful outlook. So relaxing. A little friend came to visit 🦋 too.
Back to camp then off to the beach 🏖️ for a bit of fishing 🎣

Today has been a highlight
First up was Wineglass Bay Lookout to give us a tease of what we were about to see up close and what we had seen on post cards and in brochures.
Lookout was 400 steps up.
Wineglass Beach was 1000 down!
3hr return trip.
WOW
We spent an hour on the beach before heading up those 1000 steps
Back at the car to have lunch then on the road to Cape Tourville Lighthouse.
More stunning views.
Then a stop at Sleepy Bay and Richardsons Beach

Today we made our way to Freycinet Peninsula.
Stopped to look at the unusual Spikey Bridge that the convicts had built and no one knows why it was built like that.
Today was our first time experiencing the East Coast business for camping. Plan A was booked out until mid March and Plan B had 2 spots left. Set up at the golf course and drove around Coles Bay. Pretty specie.

After arriving back from Sydney, we headed to the SE coast. Our first stop was Triabunna in the hope we lucked in by getting a cancellation for a cruise tour to Ile Des Phoques & Maria Island the next day.
AND we got it👏🏻👏🏻
Another trip out of my comfort zone but it comes highly recommended.
The morning weather was perfect for a 6 hour boat ride.
As we slowly approached Ile Des Phoques(Seal island) we could hear some of the male seals 🦭 having arguments over their position on the rocks. Then the magic started. The juvenile seals jumped in and started swimming towards us, keeping us entertained while we had our morning tea.
Around the other side of the island is where the other magic happens. The cave with the colours of the rainbow 🌈 and because of the pretty calm conditions, the skipper sailed right inside. The pictures don’t do it justice but they are still pretty amazing.
Back towards Maria Island and past the seals again, then we anchored near one of the beaches for lunch. Time to move and a pod of dolphins were spotted so we travelled along with them until we arrived at the jetty in Darlington Bay. Off the boat to get our land legs and a short tour of the island.
Remnants of the Cement Works silos, convicts probation station( which is now used as accommodation) other old buildings also, that make up the fascinating history of Darlington and the wombats roaming freely are just a small part of the island that we seen today.
Back on the boat at 4pm and the wind had picked up and shifted so we had a very fast but wavy ride back to Triabunna.
Another amazing day in Tassie
