Monday Travel Tip - The Mexican Peso vs the USD
If you are traveling to Mexico and are NOT leaving the property, and just need cash to tip, USD is fine.
If you ARE leaving the resort, ESPECIALLY if doing so requires a cab, or if you are going to Isla Mujeres or Holbox, you WILL NEED pesos, and small denominations.
Taxis only take cash, and you might be overcharged if using USD
You WILL also want to use pesos when going into small businesses that are cash only, otherwise you might be taken advantage of by the exchange rate that the small businesses make up.
It's also hard to get change for 500mxn bills, so the smaller, the better!
