My 2 month cycling adventure is almost complete. In a few days I’ll hopefully catch the ferry back from France to England where I started.
It’s been truly epic! I’ve been to some incredible places, cycling over 2500 miles through 9 countries. The highlights have been hiking on James Bond Island in the Faroe Islands and spotting puffins, wild camping and cycling in the middle of nowhere in Norway and peddling down a single lane road with a sheer cliff drop in the Pyrenees. These are just a small selection from a trip that has had so many incredible experiences for me.
It’s not been all sunshine and roses though, well a lot of extremely hot sunshine in Spain and France with temperatures pushing up to 39 degrees. I’ve also pushed my bike through impassable snow drifts in an isolated mountain pass in Norway. I’ve struggled with an extremely painful knee for the first 2 weeks, slept in a public toilet and under a picnic bench next to a highway. Dealt with several mechanical issues with my bike and basically lived day to day not really knowing where I am going to sleep or if I’ll find food (I always did though, thankfully)!
I don’t like asking for money, which is why I haven’t pushed the charity money raising on the socials, but as I am nearly home and have almost done what I set out to do (complete with the struggles I mentioned earlier) I will ask this one last time if you would be kind enough to spare a few squid for the charity ‘Save the Children’.
