Yes! This is such a great move!

🐘🍃 When innovation meets food waste management... even Skippy the elephant has come to check out the new development 😂.

Bokashi bins being prepared for introduction: All food waste generated at the NLCP base is now disposed of in the bokashi bins and will subsequently be composted. The Bokashi Bucket uses beneficial microbes in a a process called anaerobic (no oxygen) fermentation to break down food waste. It's 100% natural and 100% safe for people, plants and the environment.
It is anticipated that this will have the dual benefits of removing a food source from local animals – like Skippy - thus reducing the dangers of living alongside elephants; and also providing low-cost compost fertilizer to the local community.

We plan to trial this alongside separation of other waste with a view to expanding its use in the wider GMAs. This is one of the first steps in improving our, and local, waste management practices.

The crate stack!

True connection!
This woman was passing by while we were conducting a crate stacking activity. She was most interested and amused and we invited her to rest and watch. The group was struggling to figure out how to send a crate to the top of the stack and the woman couldn’t help but start yelling instructions in Soli... which were not understood but the group.
In her frustration, she got up, grabbed a stick and showed them how it was done.
Such a great moment!

A rewarding week spent with young minds in a most magic place! We are so happy to be working again and enjoying the outdoors with young people in Zambia.
This camp focused on Challenge and Leadership with many other lessons about sustainable resource management and innovative and regenerative agriculture with Community Training Farm Mpanshya as our ever-inspiring partners!

This was a united effort to achieve a goal that was FAR bigger than any one of us could have achieved alone. As a global community of runners, hikers and walkers we came TOGETHER for water!
