Dear followers,

I get lots of last minute requests for cruises within a month, two or three. Cruising is very popular and ships often fill up quite early. Last minute cruising is a challenge at best and if you have the need for a wheelchair accessible room, that complicates things.

The accessible rooms are few and far between and book up early.

If you're thinking about cruising (and I REALLY strongly recommend it), please think several months ahead (at least 6 months) and even better if it's a year.

That way, you'll get better choices of rooms and itineraries.

Today, we are having the biggest swells we’ve experienced so far this cruise. They’re not bad, and the ship is barely rolling. Based on the movement of the ship, I suspect that the ship’s stabilizers are deployed. Stabilizers are winglike structures in the hull under the waterline that can be extended. They reduce the roll (side to side motion), giving guests a more comfortable ride. Pitch, the up and down motion at the bow and stern, cannot be controlled. We don’t have very much pitch today, either. To gauge the pitch, I usually close one eye and look down the balcony railing to watch the horizon rising and falling.

If you watch carefully, you can see the very gentle roll we’re experiencing as we sail toward Ålesund. I braced my phone on the stateroom wall to ensure that the only movement captured is the ship’s. I also zoomed the camera to 9X magnification, so it might be a little exaggerated. While it’s quite calm, this gentle roll is something that I thoroughly enjoy. It’s only slightly noticeable to me. Others might disagree.

So very peaceful. We’re sailing very slowly and the water is so calm.

In August 2007, Jamie and I embarked on our very first cruise tour vacation - a week touring the interior of Alaska followed by a cruise from Whittier to Vancouver. We instantly fell in love with cruising and have never looked back! Since then, our adventures have included the Caribbean Sea, South America (including Iguazu Falls, one of the most spectacular places on earth), the grandeur of Antarctica, the beauty of Hawaii, the engineering marvel of the Panama Canal and the spectacular beauty and history of the Mediterranean and Adriatic Seas. I will continue to travel the world, gaining more and more first hand experiences to share with you! After serving my community for 35 years at Toronto Paramedic Services, it was time to shift gears and pursue my passion for cruising in my new retirement career! Now, it is my pleasure to help you find the vacation that is right for you. While we specialize in cruising, I am also happy to arrange a memorable land vacation for you!

While still associated with Cruise Holidays of Lawrence Park in Toronto, I am now located in Winnipeg and looking after clients from coast to coast in Canada as well as in the United States.

Clearly, I have been infected with the cruising bug. As a travel consultant, I’m driven by my passion for cruising and the insatiable urge to spread that cruising bug to everyone I come into contact with. When I help you find your dream vacation, I’m also looking into the future. My goal is that you will embark on your vacation with confidence that you’ve been looked after very well and that you’ll want to return to me for future vacations.
