I made my first pairs of earrings when I was 11 during christmas break the city sponsored a craft week and kids had a chance to make christmas presents this was the craft that stuck with me. I occassionaly made pieces for myself over the years but thats was just when I was bored or needed something to match an outfit. That was until this last christmas, money for our family like most families thes

e days is tight. I turned to etsy for some inexpensive gifts to my surprise I found that the products cost about the same as the store items. Luckily my good friend Kelly had taught me to crochet so it was a homemade christmas this year for the in laws siblings and nieces and nephews. After the cost of materials I hadn't spent 1/4 of my holiday budget so I got the great idea to provide great gifts at a fair price. I am hoping to bring baby friendly pieces to my collection soon!!! Whats in the album is what I have in stock I gurantee my pieces to be one of a kind so you will never see duplicate pieces. I will add new pieces every other day.

Every summer at fish camp my family cuts salmon filets into strips that we smoke & then dry. It’s my Gmas joke that we’re “st*****rs” she always says, “Okay you st*****rs go get to work!” 😆 & I used that as inspiration to create this shawl. I wanted the “salmon strips” to hang over the shoulders just as they would hang over the pole & used home tanned moose hide to incorporate your sense of smell. I also added silver suede fringes to the back to mimic the smoke coming up to the strips. When we are cutting fish, we stretch the skin to separate the flesh by nicking the edges & centre of the skin which is why I added those small details to the front of my shawl. I also knew that I wanted to have a provocative photo with the finished shawl as another tribute to my gmas joke 🧡🖤 Thank you so much to my amazing model as soon as I mentioned the photoshoot idea she was all in & freaking KILLED IT! 🔥 This shawl will be a part of an exhibition in Dawson City this summer, so it won’t be featured in the Adaka fashion show along with the rest of my collection for my Canada Council Grant, which was another reason why it was important for me to have the shoot before the shawl goes to Dawson 🖤🧡

This stocking from the Old Sturbridge Village Museum in Massachusetts was started in the 19th century and never finished! So as long as you finish in this century, you should be fine. 😉
