Some choice photographs by LAZY BONES from the Newcastle house show on the December 2017 sweater curse + Sleepclub tour. Support wonderfully provided at this show by FRITZ and Max Quinn.

The lighting at this show was shocking, so to have such a beautifully captured representation of the night is a true testament to Bronte's work.

Please enjoy these as I have for the last few months.

Keeskea's debut single is out now. They will perform tomorrow at Embraced In Thought - Launch Event. I can't find the words to explain how much that means, so this article will have to do. See you tomorrow

Lofty and delicate yet fiercely present and potent,  You Did,  is a seamless exercise in self harmonisation and simplistic beauty.

EMBRACED IN THOUGHT - COLLABORATIVE EXHIBITION
FRIDAY MARCH 30 (GOOD FRIDAY) - LAUNCH EVENT 6PM-8:30PM
LIVE MUSIC FROM KEESKEA

Embraced In Thought is a collaborative exhibition from Liz Pike and Jonathan McCallum, using their respective forms of painting and poetry to address the ongoing effects of our attachment to memories.

The artists have collaborated previously in local publication The Line, but not to this extent. For this exhibition, both artists have developed pieces based on their individual reflections on memory- examining the nature of memory itself, it’s bias and it’s fluidity. The artists have then created pieces in response to the exchange of their original works. These reinterpretations have affected the works in unexpected ways, prompting the artists to experiment with form and constraint within their practice.

Brisbane based artist Keeskea will provide musical accompaniment for the launch, selected specifically to complement the emotional resonance of the work.

If you cannot attend the launch, the exhibition will be open for viewing on Saturday March 31 and Sunday April 1 between 10am and 2pm.

This event is supported by Banshee Collective and No-Fi Collective.

Struggling to articulate in a succinct way how strong my feelings of gratitude are about this tour, but I'll do my best.

Huge thanks to VACATIONS, Homewrecker, Cull, Las Vagueness, FRITZ, and Max Quinn. For playing these shows, providing backline, moral support, and generally being the loveliest people going. (As an aside, Keeskea closed out the trip with an amazing set in Newcastle that I will remember for a long long time. Thank you.)

Thanks to Rad and Botany View Hotel for hosting us in Wollongong and Sydney. Excellent venues staffed with fantastic people. Thanks to LAZY BONES who took this excellent photo and many others at our house show in Newcastle.

Most of all, I want to extend the biggest thanks of all to sweater curse and Sleep Club. Being down from the start to tour interstate with a promoter who hasn't booked outside of their town before is a wild decision, and I hope you feel it was as worth it as I do. I also couldn't have picked better bands to watch three nights in a row. I feel lucky to count the people in these bands as some of my closest friends. Come back soon.

Thank you to anyone who has paid attention to what I've been doing. This page will be quiet for a minute, then active sporadically from there as I have time and the capacity to organise. I'm still not sure what my plans are as I'm moving to a rural area next year, but I'm looking forward to seeing what the future holds.

Jen Buxton Residency - Keeskea

Keeskea is the solo project of Vanessa Marousopoulos (Sleep Club, Leafling). I was lucky enough to see them perform at Against The Grain this year, and am now even luckier to help bring the project to Newcastle.

Keeskea will be joining Jen Buxton for her monthly residency on the 17th of December at The Hamilton Station Hotel. Event linked in the comments.

First Quiet Carriage show announced! Jen Buxton Residency - Cloud Tangle

After being blown away by her sets at Wicking Out and GRAIN's Against The Grain festival, it is extremely exciting to be welcoming Cloud Tangle back to Newcastle this November.

While they don't share a genre, what Jen and Cloud Tangle do have in common is an ability to draw outsiders into the world of their finely crafted works.

Newcastle singer/songwriter and poison city records recording artist Jen Buxton performs her monthly residency at the Hamilton Station Hotel. Spanning over two sets, Buxton performs a selection of banter topics, covers, and songs from across her releases. Her debut album Don't Change Your Plans is available here https://poisoncityrecords.bandcamp.com/album/dont-change-your-plans

Cloud Tangle is the solo project of multi-instrumentalist Amber Ramsay, which combines video art and music to evoke a mood equally devastating and beautiful. Her ethereal vocals soar above silky guitar melodies, dragging you ever downward into a subdued, grimly content atmosphere. The sounds draw on elements of timelessness and rawness. Her heart-wrenching melancholia can be heard on her debut EP, 'Pocket' https://cloudtangle.bandcamp.com/releases
