Well, that was a crazy tiring day in London.
WTM (World Travel Market) at London Excel - 21562 steps later. It’s been exhausting. And I have a blister !!
WTM is an opportunity to meet up with suppliers from all over the world. Nice to connect with new suppliers and meet up with some of my ‘old’ ones and end the day with a beer with one of my old pals.
Now time to go home and plan some more new holidays. And rest my weary feet. I forgot how tiring cities are !

Travelling Solo doesn’t mean travelling on your own. Far from it.
You will be travelling with a group of like minded travellers with the expertise of a Tour Manager / Director of Experium Travel.
With over 30 yrs of experience in the travel business, I have learned a little bit about what my clients want.

If you think my track record of spotting wildlife is exceptional - well, that’s because I go to these places at the right time of year.
We have the very best starting point - and that is being in the right place at the very best time of year.

I run very few trips a year - compared to the larger tour operators and that means I choose my destinations and timing very carefully.
I book my destinations at least 2 years in advance.
So yes - I do seem ‘luckier’ than most !

Dining - as a solo traveller that’s one of the most ‘terrifying’ parts of travelling by yourself - the thought of having dinner by yourself.
Well, of course, you can choose to eat alone if you want - after all it’s your holiday.
BUT we always have a plan - even when meals are not included. And the reason they’re not included is because sometimes it’s much nicer when there’s a good choice of restaurants, you can experience more of the local cuisine.
We meet for pre dinner drinks and then people slope off to dinner but nobody is ever left out. Everyone always knows the times for dinner and drinks. And it works.

Are we exclusively solo travel? - no we aren’t. Everyone is welcome and everyone just ‘mucks in’ together BUT we are more than 80% solo travellers.
Destinations. Well, we travel to most continents and the tours are unique and varied.
Wildlife and culture and often a mix of both.
As a keen photographer myself, I tend to choose destinations that are incredible for photography - After all, it’s often the photos that sell the holidays.

Reviews - as the old saying goes, you can’t please all of the people all of the time but I’ve been operating now for 5 years - even throughout Covid we operated U.K. holidays for a short time - and the reviews that clients have left pretty much say it all.

What comes through loud and clear from the reviews on Trustpilot is that people feel in very ‘safe hands’. I have a wealth of experience of running tours for myself aka Experium Travel and previously for the same large company for over 20 yrs to all 7 continents. So I do know what I’m doing without blowing my own trumpet too much.

And importantly - as a member of PTS Travel Trust. All of your money is fully protected.

Not receiving the newsletter ? Then sign up to receive your copy.
The holidays sell out quite often very quickly and there’s a reason for that - people like what I offer.

These small group (max 20) experiences are very much what people want these days in an Escorted Tour.

I just saw an advert for Igloo Lodge on my Facebook feed.
Igloo lodge, Ilulissat, Greenland - one of the many unique lodges we stay at with Experium Travel.
Greenland is a destination that is ripe for development. The new airport in Nuuk is opening in November 2024.
Ilullissat has a new airport scheduled to open in 2026.
What does this mean ? Well, it means that the bigger planes will be able to land on the runways. More people will fly in. Greenland will have more tourists and earn more money. Right now it’s a country that’s main industry is fishing but soon this will switch to tourism.
It’s a country that has so much to offer to its visitors - breathtaking scenery that is totally unique in both summer and winter.
We have 2 trips next year - 2025 - the winter igloo experience with the icebergs and Aurora.
And the summer trip where we stay over at Eqi Glacier Lodge, with chances to spot whales galore and icebergs in abundance. The land of the midnight sun.
Greenland - a great destination and offers so many great experiences.

Everyone has a ‘happy place’ … and this is mine.

N E P A L
and the ever so charming Mala Lodge. Although, I have to admit I absolutely fell in love with Garung when I visited there on the Nepal active trip which I am sure is a trip I will repeat at some point.
But meanwhile, I discovered these photos of Mala lodge today whilst sifting through some photos.
The lovely ladies of Tomijung - aka The Bee Village.
Pokhara - the lake side resort with the Annapurnas as a backdrop.

As you know, my 2025 trip is already fully subscribed BUT my new 2026 trip will be available to book quite soon.
I’m just waiting for the prices for the Bhutan add on to be established and we can open this tour for booking.

So while we wait for the Bhutan prices … here’s a few photos of Mala Lodge.
Think .. morning tea on the lawn of the lodge as you watch the sun come up over the Fishtail Mountain.
Did I tell you, all rooms come with a down jacket - probably fake north face to be honest - but warm nevertheless .
At dinner time, we throw our keys in to a basket - and no it’s not that kind of holiday - it’s to give the staff access so they can put a hot water bottle in your bed!
Pre dinner drinks around the roaring fire - whilst the guide talks about life in Nepal.
Our ‘day in the life..’ programme when we visit the bee village and Experience daily Nepalese life.

Now can you start to see why it’s my happy place!

We are now back from our trip to Jordan.
I took a group of 17. British Airways cancelled our flight 3 days before departure despite other airlines continuing to fly to Amman.
The FCO guidelines are what I follow - just the same as other tour operators.
My wonderful agents in Amman helped me to move the programme on by two days meaning we didn’t miss anything of our itinerary.
We simply arrived two days later than planned.
Although, BA are no longer flying to Jordan. We were all refunded by BA - most people within 48 hrs of the cancellation and we rebooked our flights with Royal Jordanian.
The whole group were safe throughout the tour and importantly felt safe throughout and that’s something that is very important to me.
Whilst I am a very small Tour Operator in the grand scheme of things but I never cut back on the cost of overseas agents. The old adage - you get what you pay for - is so true.
After a stressful start to the trip, especially for me, the trip, I can honestly report was a huge triumph. Petra was empty - of course one must never forget the huge humanitarian impact this war is having and I’m sure the effects will be felt for some time to come for all sides.
There will be no easy solution for this war in the Middle East and that fills me with great sadness. So many casualties throughout the entire region.
But for now, we are all home safe and sound and time to start the laundry,

I will be busy for the next few weeks catching up on laundry of course but lots of admin too. We can expect to see the release of a few more 2026 tours in in the coming weeks.

I will be this year (briefly) at WTM (one of the largest travel trade fairs) meeting my suppliers from around the world, meeting some new contacts in my attempt to create lovely new itineraries for you all for the next few years.

My tours for 2025 are now fully subscribed and my releasing tours will now be largely focussing on the 2026 programme.

Sign up to the newsletter if you haven’t already done so.
Follow me on Facebook and Instagram.
I would love to hear from you and perhaps you’d like to join one of my future tours.

Our penultimate day was very relaxed. Most of us decided to take an extra boat trip but this time in a glass bottomed boat.
The water was calmer today and therefore the water was clearer. Lovely snorkelling in clear warm waters. The glass bottom boat gave everyone a chance to see the coral and the aeroplane at the bottom of the sea bed. Not a crash site… but a plane that has been placed at the bottom of the sea bed to encourage more coral to grow - in about 50-100 yrs. Apparently the metal encourages coral growth. Who knew !
Another bbq lunch - again simple and delicious - and afternoon of beach and more swimming in the extremely salty sea !
Some enjoyed the Movenpick chcoolate tasting and others the fabulous ice cream - the joy of being in a Swiss owned hotel.
Sunset at the beach whilst enjoying a cocktail…
Today almost felt like a holiday…..
Tomorrow we head off to the Dead Sea for our last day.

Yesterday, we left the desert of Wadi Rum and headed to Aqaba on the Red Sea.
We are now directly opposite the resort of Eilat in Israel, further up the coast from Sharm El Sheikh (Egypt) and around the corner from Saudi Arabia.
Jordan has its little corner of the Red Sea. No photos allowed until we get to our section of the sea . We can see the flag of Israel as we sailed around the corner and headed to the flag of Jordan. Cones in the middle defining the border between these two countries. And on the Jordanian side, we sailed past the royal palace with its own private beach of course and we could see members of the Jordanian royal family enjoying some beach time.

The warm clear waters of the Red Sea were too enticing for us not to have a dip. The currents were strong but we had rope for safety and a couple of people snorkelled with the boat guide.
A BBQ lunch - simple and delicious - was prepared on the boat and after our lunch, we headed to the Movenpick Hotel - our hotel for these two nights before we head to the Dead Sea.
A swim in the pool, another dip in the sea before drinks and dinner!

And today, another boat trip for most of us but this time on a glass bottomed boat.

Good morning from Wadi rum!
We didn’t have the aurora but that’s okay - we had a sky full of jewels. Well, stars to be more accurate.
And wow …. What a view !
Now heading to Aqaba … for lunch / boat / swim - yaayyy

*** COMING SOON***

*** Rio, Iguassu & The Pantanal ***.
Our next departure for this tour will be 2026.

I’m hoping to open this trip some time next week for booking.
Keep your eyes on your inbox.

This tour is likely to sell out very quickly
Rio de Janeiro - visit this fabulous city on the beach.
We include visits to Sugar Loaf Mountain, Corcovado, The favelas and much more .
Iguassu - stay at the fabulous Belmond Hotel Cataratas overlooking the falls and actually inside the Brazilian national Park.
Visit the Argentinian side of the falls.
The Pantanal. - This incredible biome in the heart of Brazil is home to the highest density of jaguars on the planet. If that isn’t enough - you’ll see crocodiles, giant river otters, taipir, toucans, hyacinth macaws and so much more.
We’ve run the trip for the last two years with an incredibly high success rate of viewing all of the above.

If you don’t already receive the updates of the new tours then do get in touch. Our 2026 tours are beginning to roll out.

2025 is already fully subscribed for the tours but keep your eye out for a cancellation. You never know….
