【kitasenju 】Tyouenji temple
I‘ｍ going to tell about the anecdote, titled “Kofuku-sama”.
In the past, it used to be a hill around here. A fox lived in the back of the hill often came down and played various tricks on people.
People got in trouble, but they enshrined the fox in the temple as “Kofuku-sama”, like a god. The fox became the guardian deity of the entire town.
This is a nice story that shows the warm hearts of the townpeople.
The character, “Eye”, or “め” in Japanese, actually two characters of “め”were designed like human eyes. And each plaque is drew by hand-writing.
Also, on the right hand, this is “Nenbutsu(念仏) wheel” or prayer wheel.
This item is for praying while turning this wheel. It is said that each time you turn it, it’s the same as reading sutras. Do you want to try it?
