It's been an incredible year of adventures across Kenya, South Africa & Zambia.
Here's the countdown of my top 5 lodges and camps. ⛺️🌟

5) Tena Tena Camp, Zambia
An intimate and laid back camp, beautifully built around the natural landscape including chairs built out of tree stumps. Nestled in a remote, game-rich area, the camp provides a perfect balance of luxury and wilderness, with views out to the Luangwa River.

4) Marataba Residence, South Africa
A luxurious, private retreat offering an exclusive safari experience in a breathtaking wilderness setting. With personalised service, elegant accommodations and great game driving experiences its the ideal destination for those looking for a private family or group accommodation.

3) Mwamba Camp, Zambia
A rustic camp beautifully designed with the perfect mix of homely and comfortable with great comfort. Celebrated for its authentic safari atmosphere and incredible proximity to wildlife. With only a few chalets and a focus on walking safaris, it offers an intimate, immersive experience in one of Zambia's most game-rich areas.

2) Noka Camp, South Africa
One of the most luxurious rooms i've stayed in on safari and yet also a great eco-retreat perched dramatically on a cliff overlooking the Palala River. Known for its innovative design, exceptional service, and commitment to conservation, it provides a unique safari experience in a pristine off-the-beaten-path wilderness.

1) Shompole Wilderness, Kenya
One of my all time favourite bush retreats, Shompole offers a truly unique and exclusive safari experience, authentic cultural interactions, incredible wildlife hide and relaxing river tubing. Situated along the Ewaso Ng'iro River, this camp is perfect for those seeking tranquility, personalised service, and a deep connection to nature in a lesser-explored part of Kenya.

Advent Calendar Countdown - Best Experiences of 2024 ✨

Day 1: Baraka the Blind Black Rhino at Ol Pejeta 🦏

Rescued after losing his sight, Baraka the black rhino now lives like a king in a 100 acre natural sanctuary able to roam freely and safely.

If he's feeling hungry, you can be lucky enough to meet him and feed him some snacks while learning his story and supporting the vital work of conserving and protecting the endangered black rhino.

💡Fun Fact:
Did you know that the black rhino has a prehensile upper lip, which acts like a finger, allowing them to grasp twigs and leaves while feeding. 🍃

The start of our epic 3 hike across the Loita hills with the fabulous Maasai Trails team whose families have lived amongst them for centuries.

Ahead of us a challenging but rewarding journey through the “Forest of the Lost Child” and onto the incredible scenic views.

Along the way we had an encounter with a buffalo where we saw the Maasai warriors at their finest tracking and ensuring the safety of both animal and people, learnt so many medicinal uses of plants, heard about Maasai culture and let go of control as we were led along elephant tracks and down sometimes difficult terrain all while being incredibly well catered for and looked after by the amazing Maasai team.

What a journey and what memories.
Plenty of photos to come.

Our beautiful leopard in the Maasai Mara 🐆

We followed this girl for a couple of days, she had killed a Thompsons Gazelle and taken it into a tree so stayed between there and the nearby bush riverine.

Such a joy to spend some time with this elusive cat.

Did you know that elephants are actually walking on their tiptoes? 🐘✨

Despite their massive size, elephants are digitigrade - meaning they walk on their toes, just like cats and dogs!

What appears to be a big, round foot is actually a thick cushion of fatty, fibrous tissue beneath their toes, which helps absorb the impact of each step.

This natural shock absorber allows these gentle giants to move almost silently through the wild. 🌿

Up close and personal with orphaned elephants at the amazing in Nairobi 🐘

Watching these babies enjoy their milk bottles is both heartwarming and heartbreaking that they aren’t able to feed off their mother’s milk. 🍼

Thank goodness for the incredible keepers who love and care for them so attentively.
Each bottle brings them closer to a wilder future 🌿💚

It’s the month count down to being back in my favourite place on Earth, the Maasai Mara with our first ever women’s group Walking Wild in Kenya.

The Maasai Mara was my home for nearly 5 years first working at and then . It was also the place I retreated to in Covid spending two amazing months there, an incredible time with few vehicles and those guests who did make it being extra excited by the freedom that the bush and nature gave them.

After having to cancel my first groups due to the pandemic I’m so excited to finally be able to combine my 10 years experience of the bush with my 10 years of travel planning to form these unique and very special trips and host some amazing women along the way.

Here’s to the start of the next 10 years of Walking Wild Adventures 🥂

Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is an ancient rock fortress in central Sri Lanka 🇱🇰.

Built in the 5th century by King Kashyapa, it served as his royal palace and a defensive stronghold. 👑

The rock rises nearly 200 metres and is famed for its impressive frescoes, intricate water gardens, and the giant lions paws carved into the rock near the entrance.🦁🐾

After Kashyapa’s death, Sigiriya became a Buddhist monastery and remains one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic and historical sites.

Visit Sigiriya and more on our Walking Wild Sri Lanka women’s group tour. DM for details.
