A stay in one of our own cottages inevitably becomes a working holiday. This week at Braidcarr we've painted the bench and fence, and bought some new plants. Other replacements and repairs to keep the property in tip-top shape for guests.

Apologies for not posting for over a year. We are having another busy season with Braidcarr fully booked until November 2024. Harbour Lights has some vacancies here and there, particularly for short breaks. It was a little cloudy on Sunday evening but the harbour with Bamburgh Castle in the distance still looked great.

Replenishing the complimentary toiletry supplies for Braidcarr Cottage and Harbour Lights House. Still Arran Aromatics but a new range: Apothecary with Seaweed and Sage. Amenity kit and shower caps are also new for 2023.

We also want to take this opportunity to announce that we have decided to revert to our previous "Sorry no pets" policy for Braidcarr, at least for the time-being. We will, of course, happily honour any existing bookings with pets and you and your pet remain most welcome.

Covid-19 Update. There are currently no restrictions with holiday let properties in England, but the Covid cleaning regimes of our properties remain in place. In the early stages of Covid the UK Government advised the removal of all non-essential soft furnishings (cushions and throws), ornaments, books, CDs and DVDs from holiday let properties. In January 2022 we have returned all books, maps, CDs and DVDs for your use and loose sofa cushions etc.

We are still providing individual hand-sanitisers, wipes and additional cleaning materials for both our properties but we will re-assess whether to continue when current supplies are exhausted.

* No longer accepting pets for new bookings, but honouring existing ones.

A new look for Braidcarr Cottage for 2022. New kitchen, new flooring, reupholstered suite, new curtains, and new rug. Still a couple of other improvements to do before the New Year. About to say goodbye to the old storage heaters, being replaced by modern programmable electric radiators. And a good coat of paint to finish it all off.

Just back from a week in Harbour Lights. We've never seen this waterfall effect before at Harkess Rocks (better known as Stag Rock) near Bamburgh. I think it was probably a combination of wind and high spring tides. We stood watching it for ages. Magical.

Some new seaside mugs are a sign of things to come at Braidcarr Cottage. In November the whole downstairs is getting upgraded, ready for Christmas 2021 and the 2022 season. New flooring, contemporary new kitchen with induction hob, reupholstered 3 piece suite, new curtains etc. Oh and these mugs that were an impulsive buy yesterday. We pride ourselves on keeping our holiday properties in tip top shape.

Harbour Lights House has a view over the harbour entrance, but a few minutes stroll from both Harbour Lights and Braidcarr Cottage and you get even more views over the harbour.
