Earlier this month a devastating glacial lake outburst flood ravaged the remote village of Thame in the Everest (upper Khumbu) region of Nepal. Our hearts go out to those affected. This is very personal to us, as Mountain Kora groups have had the privilege to visit this picturesque village over the years, even as recently as our family trek this past May. We have been welcomed with warm and gracious hospitality by our guide's extensive connections of friends and family from this region. Please consider joining us in donating to the rebuilding of this community. All funds will go to the Khumbu Rural Municipality, the most efficient way to get relief directly to the community (please note: there is an optional tip to givebutter that autofills at 12%, however you can enter $0 manually). Porters transport goods throughout the Everest region. They carry heavy loads long distances to support the trekking and mountaineering industry. We adhere to all standards for the safe treatment and quality conditions for our porters, including providing them with adequate accommodations, food, clothing and footwear, and adhere strictly to the weight limits as mandated by the Ministry of Tourism (30kg).

Recent reflections and photos from guests on safari: "Gareth came across very experienced and competent. He was always in control. Both in and out of the camp. Both in the wild and in civilization. It gave us a warm feeling of safety, trust and confidence. He openly let us into his world of dreams, realities, joys, hopes and struggles and we vividly felt being a part of it. Enjoying dal bhat/thali on our trek (and in Kathmandu) - traditional dishes consisting of rice, lentils, curries, chutney and achar (pickled vegetables). Also momos - homemade dumplings. Yum! Mitho cha!

From animal caravans, suspension bridges and spinning prayer wheels to lots of tea breaks and discovering favorite local dishes, the first few days of trekking up to Namche have been filled with plenty of distractions (and fun) for kids on the trail. .sherpa

A warm welcome to Kathmandu by our hosts .sherpa and . Although sleep deprived we managed to enjoy a traditional Thakali lunch, rooftop views from our Homestay, lighting butter lamps at Boudhanath and monkeys!
