🐳 Day 2 – Whale Watching & Puffins
Road trip to Bay Bulls for a boat excursion—get ready for whales and Atlantic Puffins! Then follow the Irish Loop to Ferryland, home of the original Colony of Avalon (est. 1621). The archaeological site is full of wild artifacts—from Portuguese ceramics to gold rings.
🚗 Day 3 – St. John's to Trinity
Head toward the Bonavista Peninsula—home to some of Newfoundland’s oldest settlements. On your way to the Artisan Inn, stop in New Bonaventure to visit the set of Random Passage, where you can walk through a recreated 1800s fishing outpost.
🏘️ Day 4 – Trinity & Bonavista Peninsula
Explore the charming clapboard houses of Trinity and take in a walking theatre experience. Hike the Skerwink Trail, visit Bonavista’s red-and-white lighthouse, and check out the Matthew Legacy—a replica of John Cabot’s ship!
🧊 Day 5 – Trinity to Twillingate
Drive through Terra Nova National Park and stop at the Beothuk Interpretation Centre in Boyd’s Cove. Then, it's Twillingate time! Take a boat tour to spot icebergs and whales, then settle in at Anchor Inn Hotel or Harbor Lights Inn. (Breakfast included.)
✈️ Day 6 – Twillingate to Gander
Wrap up your road trip with a short drive to Gander International Airport and fly home filled with memories of icebergs, puffins, and pure magic.
💡 Want to extend your stay in Twillingate? You totally should.
This coastal gem is packed with history, adventure, and jaw-dropping scenery. Think hiking trails like Sleepy Cove and Spiller’s Cove, iceberg cruises, fudge shops, a wine tasting at Great Auk Winery, live music, boat building demos at Isles Wooden Boat Museum, nachos and craft beer at Split Rock Brewing, and even a visit with Captain Dave at the Prime Berth Fishing Museum.
There’s truly something for everyone.
