Tour Spotlight: Assinie

The beautiful resort town of Assinie can be found just 80km east of Abidjan the former political capital Cote D’Ivoire. In the late 1600, French traders and missionaries used this region to carry out business activities. These settlers built the Fort Saint-Louis in the early 1700s where they carried out slave trade and later traded grains.

Within Cote D’Ivoire, the town is about one and half hour drive from the capital city of Abidjan. The beach is primarily accessible by boat from various locations.

Tour Spotlight: Banco National Park,

In French "Parc National du Banco" is a national park located in southeastern Côte d’Ivoire (Ivory Coast). It lies immediately north of Abidjan, the national capital. Declared a national park in 1953, Banco conserves both flora and fauna in some 116 square miles (300 square km). Tropical hardwood trees occupy most of the park; an arboretum displays trees (especially teak) and shrubs from all over the country. African civet, genet, bushbuck, duiker, and monkey roam the park. The park serves primarily as a recreational centre for the inhabitants of Abidjan.

About Abidjan:
Serving as the capital from 1933 until 1983, Abidjan is the biggest and most important city of Cote d'Ivoire. With a population of around 5,000,000 people, it is the second largest city in West Africa after Lagos and has historically been the economic power base of the region. Following the death of long term president-for-life Felix Houphouët Boigny in 1993, the fortunes for Abidjan changed a great deal and successive coup d'etats in Cote d'Ivoire caused a massive exodus of the foreigners living there. Today, a few years after the end of political issues in Cote d'Ivoire at large, Abidjan looms even larger as the economic and de facto capital of the country. Despite everything that's happened, the city has managed to roar back and now boasts a large selection of newly opened restaurants, hotels, sites, and other reasons to visit. For those traveling to West Africa, it is a must-see city with one of the liveliest night scenes to be found for 1,000 kilometers.
