Great day working on our continuing project at SGL #52 doing habitat cleanup. There is a section of trail that is choked out by invasive species that we are working to cut back to give way to native plants. Our next event is in 2 weeks and we will need more volunteers!

Pretty awesome Jamaican curry squirrel “wings” I made for the 3rd day of Christmas. One of these was the biggest squirrel Ive ever shot, wish I took some measurements and got it scored. Potentially a B&C entry. Hope everyone is having an awesome Christmas!

2024 rifle buck. 6:45 AM on a Sunday well as a treestand, saw a deer move in the six trees uphill behind me, and then disappear. 10 minutes later, he appears and gives me a shot. Bumped him on retrieval, which was gut wrenching, however, was able to make was the follow up shot and found him 50 yards later. so many things and people have helped me get to this point to take my largest buck to date. Immensely grateful.

Todays lesson was the importance of practicing using different rounds and comparing performance. Between this 45-70 and my Weatherby and two different rounds for each, theres big changes in point of impact. Important to know that now before gun season starts. This year im using lead free ammo in my X Model, she’s zeroed at 50 yards for bear season.

Yesterday was far from easy, the rain and cold made this year’s Lightfighter challenge a great one. Happy to endure it alongside a group of awesome people. Wish I was able to bring home the title of Pennsylvania Lightfighter, but a critical error in one of the challenges caused me to DNF the event. The valuable thing about failure is the shot was taken and you possess the insight to correct it. Looking forward to redemption next year.

Secret spot.
My coworkers boyfriend is a fly fisherman. I do not fish, but through hunting, Ive found some pretty awesome spots for native brook trout. Gave him the coordinates and he pushed through thick rhododendrons to get to this hole. There is no trail down this ravine, just have to follow the paths from deer and bear.
Im a big proponent of sharing spots. If someone had the will to actually go out to them, by all means. Had to share this awesome shot he captured.

This old pack has seen a lot of miles. Certainly by someone long before me in the 80s/90s and then by me when I was in middle school before I upgraded to a more modern pack. I dusted it off this morning and filled it up with a few bricks for an 8 mile hike.
Two factors have pushed me hard this summer to sweat on the trail.
First is the challenge which is the summer fundraiser for . The goal: put in as many miles as possible and try to get donation to continue BHAs fight to protect public lands and public access.
Second is the Pennsylvania Lightfighter Challenger in October, which starts with a timed 8 mile ruck followed by a series of challenges. I did it last year and looking forward to competing again this year.
There are few things better than exploring Americas vast public lands system, and putting in the work for self improvement. Today is the last day of Hike to hunt, if you’re able to make a donation, follow the link in my bio.

Yesterday was an awesome day for a long hike with some proper weight. Putting in miles and training for the Pennsylvania Lightfighter challenge. If you’re looking for a fun way to test yourself and your skills, join me for the PALFC in October. The end of@summer (training season) is coming soon and it will be hunting season before we know it, so time to get those miles in.

HIKE TO HUNT. Starting off my annual fundraising challenge this week I am aiming to hike 150 miles and raise $1000 this month. This is my fifth year doing this and every year I find myself a little better a little healthier a little stronger. BHA has been a big part of that. If you are able to make a donation to my campaign, the link is in my bio and I appreciate it!
This picture is from yesterday‘s hike after work, right now I am doing an 8 mile from home to work. Trek on!
