Jekyll Island has one of the longest running sea turtle tagging programs in the world? Since the early 1980s, sea turtles have been regularly tagged and protected here. We believe one of the first tags applied on a loggerhead sea turtle was on Jekyll in 1958. The turtle seen here was first tagged on Jekyll in 2008. She is named Dr. Shelly and has laid 31 nests since 2008, 3 of which have been this year! How many nests do you think she'll lay this season?

Tomorrow's St. Patty's Day. What are all you Jekyll Island lads and lassies planning

My dream is to drop in at the Wee Pub, hoist a Guinness and listen to Eddie Pickett and the Wharf Ratz while trying to catch that little Leprechaun who has a house there! My reality, though, precludes that, as I'm forced to stay home and work for a living. :)

Why wasn't I born a pirate?

My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around,
I feel like I've drowned,
Gonna head uptown"...

Well, if I can't head "uptown" to the Wee Pub (or down-island, as the case may be) I'll head to Hop Scotch here in good old Gainesville, GA, and have my son Josh make me a special medicinal margarita.

Mother Margarita, I have heard your call! Y'all have a great St. Patty's Day!
