Driving directions from the airport:
From the airport its only one road: turn right direction Dubrovnik (you don’t have to go through the town), pass Dubrovnik direction Split. driving, after passing the village of Doli, there will be a left turn to the peninsula Peljesac - town of Ston. Turn left at the sign Zuljana. From the sign Zuljana it’s a 5 km drive down to the bay. Beaches:
The local b
each in the village is clean and shallow, which makes it convenient for small children, or if you are having refreshments in the restaurant on the beach and still want to have a swim. The Bay Vucine is a 15-20 min. walk from the house. You can reach it through the village, or have a very nice walk through the back of the valley. On the beach there is plenty of shade under the pine trees. Beach Kremena 1 & 2 are smaller versions of Vucine bay, tucked away in the pinewoods that reach right to the sea. You can reach them in a 10-15 min walk from the house: Go right up to the dock. On the left corner of the dock follow the stairs and a pathway leads you to both beaches. On the right side of the Zuljana bay are numerous small-pebbled beaches that you can reach within a 5 -15 min. Food:
In the village there is a restaurant, a pizzeria and a fast food place on the dock that does very nice calamari. You can eat very good mussels right on the beach in the village Trstenik. It’s only a 10 min. drive towards the end of the peninsula. If you would like to taste of the extraordinary Dalmatian cuisine, visit the restaurant ‘Kapetanova Kuca’. It’s in Mali Ston, an approx. 25min. drive from Zuljana. A little bit cheaper, but also delicious, are neighbour restaurants ‘Vila Koruna’ and ‘Kod Sare’. Supermarkets:
The shop in the village is small and sells basics. There are few market tables with fresh, locally produced fruit and vegetables, honey and wine. We usually do our bigger shopping in Ston. There are two supermarkets on the piazza. Places to visit:
The medieval and historic town of Dubrovnik, "The pearl of the Adriatic", is an hour drive from Zuljana. On the way there, it is worthwhile to visit the Arboretum Trsteno, a 500 years old botanical garden on the cliffs. The National Park on the island Mljet is a 40 min. sail with the local boat from Zuljana. The Wine region “Dingac,” one of the most famous red wines of the country is only a 20 min drive from the house, towards the end of the peninsula. There, you can do wine tasting and buy great wines for good prices. The Island of Korcula, is reachable from the town Orebic, a 45 min drive from the house. You can leave your car in the car park next to the harbour. Instead of the ferry you can take a smaller boat that takes you straight to the old town. The sail is only 15min and they are very frequent. The town of Mostar, with the famous bridge over the river Neretva, is a 1,5 hours drive away. Don’t forget to take your passport, as Mostar is in Bosnia-Herzegowina.
