Huge downpour earlier. Lots of wet clothes. Chain on Woodys Meteor very saggy all of a sudden. Pete’s also a bit matronly. We have stopped at the hotel Aksh*th Inn in Thanjavur. Hoping to get to the coast tomorrow. We set off an hour later every day though. So it’s a challenge.

Changing a light bulb in torrential rain.

After deciding catagorically we wouldn’t go through or indeed anywhere near Madurai we found ourselves in a city called Madurai. We lost Pete, but he was finally sorted out and given a police escort out again by the Police.

Woody’s Meteor. It’s running really well. Not as yellow as Rob’s, bugbear for these roads. We did a good section of the NR45 today. It’s the equivalent of our A1 except it has zebra crossings and anything can use it. At one point we were alongside a man, his wife and two children on a 125cc, a bus, a lorry, a tractor and a couple of cars.
