✈️ Vacation inspo alert

🚢 Summer is here and vacation time is in full effect, but what if you’re like me, and sprinting around after sports teams all summer? Maybe you can fit in a short weekend cruise instead! If you’re able to do Thursday to Monday vacation times, you can land a Friday to Monday Bahamas cruise for a quick getaway. You‘ll typically do a day at Nassau, Bahamas and a day at your cruise line’s private Bahamian island before heading back to the mainland and real life. OR, if you’re just wanting a slightly longer getaway, Monday to Friday Bahamas cruises are the same stops with an added sea day. I like recommending those for first time cruisers, so you get a little more taste of the ship but also get a day to relax at sea (my favorite day on a ship).

Routes to consider this summer that are still bookable!
*Disney Wish - runs to Nassau, Bahamas; Castaway Cay; Monday - Friday, and Friday - Monday out of Port Canaveral, FL [fly into Orlando to use Disney transfers to/from port]
*Disney Magic - runs to Nassau, Bahamas; and the brand new Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point, Bahamas, out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, Friday - Monday on select fall weekends, and Thursday to Monday, this summer

*Utopia of the Seas - runs to Nassau, Bahamas; Perfect Day at CocoCay; Monday - Friday, and Friday to Monday starting late July 2024 out of Port Canaveral, FL
*Allure of the Seas - same route as Utopia
*Freedom of the Seas - same route as Utopia and Allure, but out of Miami, FL

*Celebrity Reflection - running 3,4 and 5 night Bahamas cruises out of Fort Lauderdale, FL, with trips to Bimini; Bahamas, Key West, FL; Perfect Day at CocoCay (itinerary varies depending on length

Note that summer 2024 cruises would need to be paid in full at time of booking. Availability is always subject to change as ships fill up with happy passengers! Contact me for specific pricing for your travel party.

🌞 Find your own paradise on the seas this summer!

A cool way to plus up your Universal Orlando Resort vacay is with adding a private or non-private VIP tour to your trip!

Non-private VIP guided tours mean you and several other folks (up to 10 guests per tour) enjoy front of the line access / backstage access / valet parking / continental breakfast and lunch / exclusive lanyard / complimentary Universal Unlimited Express for the rest of the day after your tour is complete / discounts on merchandise in the parks and Citywalk

Private VIP tours are for just you and your buddies! You pick the start - you pick the attractions - plus breakfast : lunch : full service dinner : 3 day photo package - and all the behind the scenes/ front of line access. Your guide will let you in on all the secrets of the park as you have the perfect Universal day.

These tours aren’t using the Express Lines - you’re getting walked to the very front of the line - and they are more affordable than you’d think! Perfect for a group of friends having a blast.

There’s even a R.I.P. Tour for Halloween Horror Nights if you like getting 👻 💀👹

breakfast at one of my favorite character meals - Storytellers Cafe at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa

🍽️ Enjoy a delightful and expansive self serve buffet with character meet and greets at your table. I’ve met Pluto, Mickey, Minnie, and Chip and Dale while dining here - and the food and experience are fabulous. This location is great because you don’t need a park ticket to get in, and you don’t have to stay at the hotel either!

🏰 Guests who do stay at this hotel enjoy a private entrance/exit into Disney’s California Adventure theme park, along with room options that include views into that theme park, or Downtown Disney views (which give you some views into the Disneyland theme park too!)

What’s your favorite character dining experience?

Happy start to summer vacay to you all! Looking back on the last several years - there’s been some great memories made with me and my family and friends. From Mexico to Alaska, Florida to California - and a bit of West Virginia and Ohio too!

I hope your summer plans bring you great pics like these in 2024 📸

🛻 One of my favorite places at a Disney park is Cars Land, located at Disney’s California Adventure theme park, down in Anaheim, California.

🚗 Venture into the town of Radiator Springs, and live life in the slow lane. You’ll find Radiator Springs Racers, Luigi’s Rollickin’ Roadsters and Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree - along with a whole bunch of tasty treats, and fantastic sights.

🚙 My favorite time each day, is when you catch the lights being flipped on at Cars Land. The whole area just starts to glow in the best neon way!

Where did folks travel in the last month?
This last month was very heavily Walt Disney World skewed - lots of folks did their spring break down in Orlando - with stays at Disney's Pop Century Resort, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside Resort, and Disney's Boardwalk Inn!

There were also some folks headed over to Universal Orlando Resort, with stays at Loews Aventura Resort, and Loews Sapphire Falls Resort.

Plus, we had a lot of folks sailing around to the Bahamas on the Disney Wish and Royal Caribbean's Allure of the Seas - both of those do easy vacations to Nassau and their cruise private Bahamian island.

I'm excited to see where folks end up in the next month! I have been working on requests for New Year's Eve cruises, fall break getaways to Orlando, Halloween parties for both Universal Studios Florida and Magic Kingdom, and starting to plan for spring and summer 2025 vacations. I've had a couple requests for February 2025 winter breaks - that Presidents' Day Weekend can be VERY popular so it's good to get ahead of that one for that time frame.

I've had several folks get summer 2025 plans to various Sandals Resorts in the Caribbean for some adult only vacays - as well as looking ahead to the newest ships in the Disney and Royal Caribbean fleets. Alaska 2025 is starting to pop up with interest, for folks wanting to get ahead on their bucket list plans to see our 49th state.

Where are you thinking for your next vacation plans?

Tiana's Bayou Adventure officially opens up to guests visiting the Magic Kingdom this summer, starting on June 28, 2024! Disneyland Park will get their version to open up later this fall, no specific dates are noted just yet.

Get all the details about Tiana's Bayou Adventure, opening June 28 at Walt Disney World Resort!

Looking ahead for a quick getaway this fall?

I was scanning around sailings for Royal Caribbean's newest ship, Utopia of the Seas, and what is available for their fall 4 night sailings out of Port Canaveral, FL for 2 adults, in late September 2024. This would be a Monday - Friday sailing, and a perfect fall break getaway for two adults.

🚢 You can get an oceanview balcony for two adults, for this sailing, for $1,902.88 (cruise fare, taxes and port fees included in price)
OR
Upgrade to a Ocean view with large balcony stateroom, and your package is $2,003.88 (cruise fare, taxes and port fees included in price).

You can add on prepaid gratuities, cruise care insurance - and still have room for a nice flight down and back (or drive if you'd like). Plus, you can always add on some fun extras to make it feel all inclusive - wifi and drink packages, or speciality dining packages.

🗺️ This brand new ship will visit Nassau, Bahamas for one day, have a day at sea, and have a visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay private island...where I totally recommend getting the day pass to the adult only Hideaway Beach

As always, pricing and availability are subject to change, including selecting which dates work the best for your schedule. This spectacular ship is sailing 3 and 4 night sailings from Port Canaveral for the next year - and is amazingly priced for the fact that it opens up this summer!

🚀 May the Fourth Be With You!

Throwing it back to the opening weekend of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, in late August 2019 - where my friend Kayla and I were there bright and early for the 6am Saturday opening for resort that weekend.

🚀 The joy and glee of catching a new land opening is something I always think about - and seeing both the Walt Disney World and Disneyland versions (and feeling at home in both) is a fun feeling for sure.

🍴Even if you’re not a fan of the Star Wars movies, I always recommend to clients that you should still take a walk through, especially the bazaar area - and grab a bite at Docking Bay 7 or Ronto Roasters! Both are great food stops for unusual and fun choices

💥Everyone loves watching the Happily Ever After fireworks from in front of Cinderella Castle, when they’re at the Magic Kingdom….did you know that the music and fireworks still look great from behind the castle too?

💥I always recommend if you’re not interested in watching the fireworks, try riding Big Thunder Mountain Railway, or Dumbo the Flying Elephant for an incredible fireworks view!

Saw a great meme this morning - -
“Travel agents don’t sell travel. Travel agents provide service, education, and management. Travel can be found everywhere.”

And it’s the truth. I’ve had countless conversations with folks on what I really do - and the truth is - those are the three things I do: provide service, education on destinations and best choices, and manage what can see like countless hoops in the air for each group.

The cute pictures like these are the smallest part of my career - it’s the backend management systems I’ve created over the years; continuing education for destinations yearly and monthly; staying up on latest news; knowing my clients and their preferences - that’s what I do.

It’s been a fun month - folks traveling to Universal Orlando and Walt Disney World, working on summer vacation folks, getting things set up for a adults only group trip to Walt Disney World in the fall, doing research on a future group cruise - along with discussing 2025 vacation plans with folks, managing payments, and other daily paperwork things.

Happy weekend to you all! Hopefully you find a cute little Alien Macaron like this dude to brighten your day (Alien Pizza Planet, Disneyland Park)

🍍 Pick your favorite Trader Sam! - Trader Sam's Enchanted Grog Grotto at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort OR Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar at the Disneyland Hotel. Both are icons in the best themed bars and lounges at a Disney resort.

🍹 You'll find elaborately themed lounges with tropical flair, intriguing cocktail and mocktail choices, and a bit of the theatrical thrown in. Don't worry - you can also grab bar snacks, and shared drinks for 2-4 people, along with incredible mugs for purchase and to display with your memorabilia.

🧟‍♀️ I've been to both several times- I like the Disneyland version for the open air ambience and tons of torches as you sip on something smooth, it's just an oasis in the middle of the resort - but you can't go wrong with at Walt Disney World when a Cast Member acts like a Zombie while you're surrounded by tiki bar kitsch, and walls that thunder.

Which one wins out for you?

🧐 Do you know the differences between the Walt Disney World Resort (WDW) and Universal Orlando Resort (UOR)? I get a lot of folks who mix them up when they are talking to me about their vacation plans, so here are some helpful notes about each!

-WDW and UOR are not owned by the same companies. They are about 25 minutes apart from each other, but both are the biggest draws to tourism in Orlando, FL

- WDW - first park opened in 1971
- UOR - first park opened in 1989

- WDW - has 20+ resorts of varying sizes, themes for all budgets
- UOR - has 8 resorts of varying sizes, themes for all budgets

- WDW - has 4 theme parks (Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Hollywood Studios, Animal Kingdom)
- UOR - has 2 theme parks (Universal Studios Florida, Islands of Adventure)

- WDW - has 2 water theme parks (Blizzard Beach, Typhoon Lagoon)
- UOR - has 1 water theme park (Volcano Bay)

- WDW - vacation package deposit is $200, balance due by 30 days prior to check in
- UOR - vacation package deposit is $50 per person, balance due by 45 days prior to check in

- WDW - average vacation length is 4-7 days
- UOR - average vacation length is 3-5 days

- Both have festivals in the parks for their guests, and both have some after hours events for their guests throughout the year
You'll find the majority of events for Halloween and Christmastime at both destinations

- Marvel characters are found at both destinations - but only the Guardians of the Galaxy are found at Epcot, the main Marvel crew from the movies are actually at Disney's California Adventure, in California!
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is only found at Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure - there are no Harry Potter anythings at WDW

- WDW - lots of more relaxing attractions, but does have some fun thrill ones too!
- UOR - focus is on more thrills across their parks, but there are some great relaxing attractions too!

Both destinations are filled with iconic attractions, snacks, merchandise, and memories.

😍 Both parks have added a lot to their destinations in the last 10 years, and they keep on providing year round entertainment and memories for all guests. Tiana's Bayou Adventure opens this summer at the Magic Kingdom, and the newest Universal park, Epic Universe - opens next year at Universal Orlando!

19/04/2024

🏔️ One of the coolest things you can do for an Alaskan trip, is venture on a cruise tour! A cruise tour combines your land adventure in the heart of Alaska with a cruise along the Inside Passage area of Alaska.

🚢 Several cruise lines offer cruise tours, where you can add several days of land exploration - with varying activities and more. You might fly out of or into Anchorage or Fairbanks to experience this.

🗺️ I was invited to experience the land portion of a cruise tour with Holland America Line, and it was a monumental adventure in my life. One of my favorite parts was the 8 hour glass dome train ride from Anchorage to Denali.

🚂 Your cruise tour can be a more individualized or a guided option - with many add ons to choose exactly what you’d like. They can be super busy, as we were exploring from 6-7am to 8-10pm on some days - but it was a wonderful time that I think back on fondly.

📸 Check out some of my memories from the first day, when we woke up early and hopped on the train to Denali!

17/04/2024

🏔️ Alaska Week Continues!
When do cruises to Alaska happen? Can you go year round? Where do you start?

🗓️ Typically you will find your favorite cruise line traveling from May through September each year. Peak time for Alaska cruises are June - August. They won't go year round due to weather and many of the summer folks in the small port towns leaving at the end of cruise season.

🚢 Cruise departures on Alaskan cruises:
Majority of folks will start from Vancouver, BC, Canada or Seattle, Washington. These are common for the round trip cruises. One way cruises can start south (Vancouver or Seattle), or north, from Seward or Whitter, Alaska. While sometimes you can see cruise departures from Anchorage - usually they are referring to port of Whittier instead.

⚓️ You'll find many of the following port stops on an Alaskan cruise: Skagway, Ketchikan, Juneau, and Sitka. You'll also always sail up and down the Inside Passage, a beautiful water and islands area with views of the majestic land along the southern panhandle of Alaska and British Columbia coastlines. The small port towns are beautiful, with various excursions, shopping, and dining available.

🗺️ Typically, you'll also find one or multiple glacier stops - you would be sailing around the area for views instead of stopping to get off the ship. The most famous is Glacier Bay National Park - which is limited to only a couple of ships per day for protection of the glaciers and area. Some cruises might only travel to Tracy Arm Inlet or Icy Strait instead, which are still beautiful glacier areas, and feature fjords (long inlets into land with high cliffs surrounding the water).

🌊 Several cruise lines bring National Park rangers on board for the glacier days, so there are experts to help guests learn more about the wilderness around them.

🐋 If you're wanting whales, they start swimming upward to Alaska in late April and early May. There are a great variety of whales that will travel through the Inside Passage and up north to Seward, so always keep a look out!

16/04/2024

🚢 Cruising Alaska - it's a bucket list trip for many folks! But did you know sometimes, you need a passport to visit Alaska by cruise ship?

🛫 While you can fly directly to Alaska without a passport - some cruise lines will depart from Vancouver, BC, Canada, for their cruises to Alaska. This means you'll need a valid passport if you're a US citizen, to board the ship.

🏔️ If you don't have a passport, you'll want to get a round trip sailing out of Seattle, WA for an Alaskan cruise.

⚓️ If your cruise is not round trip out of the US to Alaska, you will always need a valid passport to board the ship. There are some Alaskan cruises that are not round trip, so they will go either north to south, or south to north. Those cruises require a passport for each guest. You'll need to consider your flights with these, because you'll have two separate flights from different airports.

🛳️ Norwegian Cruise Line, Holland America Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line and Carnival Cruise line all have round trip departures from Seattle to Alaska.

🛳️ Disney Cruise Line, Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, Celebrity Cruise Line, Princess Cruise Line, all have departures from Vancouver, BC.

Have you sailed to Alaska before? What was your favorite cruise line?

15/04/2024

🏔️ Since I have a lot of folks headed out on Alaskan cruises this summer - I’m spending the week talking about Alaska!

🚢 A great way to see Alaska is by taking a cruise tour - where you explore the Inner Passage and southern panhandle and islands by cruise ship - then travel through the southern shores to the heart of Alaska.

🗺️ This beautiful scene can be found when you take a visit to Denali National Park and Preserve. The highlight is definitely the 5 hour tour through the park, as you travel 50 miles into the wilderness. Several cruise lines keep their own lodges near the entrance to the park, so you can experience this beautiful wonder.

📸 Bring your camera and binoculars! You’ll want to be scanning for wildlife, as your driver narrates and tells the history of this great park. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a glimpse of Denali, the tallest mountain in North America.
