Monad Shoal Update 16.06.2016 Malapascua Island - Philippines
Sunny Greetings to fellow Divers!
Please be informed that Monad Shoal is open to divers as per usual, as of writing. Monad Shoal is NOT closed for diving. The Philippines Coast Guard has no plan to close Monad Shoal, this is misquotations from the media. The only area that is off limit is the area just close to the ship, which is 150meters+ away from the cleaning stations we visit.
The cleaning stations are open as always - and the beautiful Thresher Sharks seem not to bother, and were spotted as normal this early morning having their daily clean at the cleaning stations :)

The first EVER Shark and Ray Sanctuary in the Philippines declared! Daanbantayan Mayor Corro has signed for MONAD SHOAL (Thresher Sharks) and GATO ISLAND (White Tips and Bamboo sharks) to be the first Shark and Ray Sanctuaries in the history of the country! Happy happy days for the Rays and Sharks! PLUS! What is also declared is that Department of Education shall integrate environmental conservation education into the primary and secondary education curriculum! Amazing news for both shark & ray protection and future education :) :) :) :)
