Tried a “new to us” bbq place tonight: Creek Bottom Burgers & BBQ located in Tri City in Newcastle, OK. AND we both tried something new—rib tips, a cousin to burnt ends.

The restaurant is very clean and service was great. The dinner was very good—and the portions were just right (not too much or too little. Great smoked taste and bark on the tips. The coleslaw had a vinegar dressing that was different, but very good. The green beans were VERY good (with a touch of heat). Definitely returning!

We made a quick trip this week to Midland, Texas—-which included a stop in at one of our favorite BBQ spots: KD’s Bar-B-Q (3109 Garden City Hwy, Midland). So many things scream “this is the real thing” here! As you enter, you wind your way through the restaurant to a line where you choose your meat and the amount you want—it’s cut & trimmed & placed on your “plate” (a tray with a sheet of wax paper). There are several standard sides (all good) plus you can help yourself to a pot of brown beans, pickles, onions and peppers.
