and Kenya Airways are expanding their strategic partnership to include Kenya Airways’ nonstop Nairobi-to-New York service, effective Aug. 5, 2023. The expanded partnership also offers customers more travel options within the U.S. and Africa, with 31 additional single connect destinations in Africa and another 57 across the U.S. and Canada.

The expansion includes Kenya Airways’ nonstop Nairobi to New York JFK service.

After an incredible trip to Australia and New Zealand, I'm back home safe and sound. I did a little math on our travel data, and I'm a little blown away from what it took to navigate our way around.
The first slide is only the flights, and the second is the rest of our modes of transportation.
I think you'll agree with me that those countries are far, far, far away!!!
Some Interesting things:
🚅Melbourne is very proud of its free tram system around the CBD. I loved it because it's free!!!
🚊They have a trolley and it's old school and also free. We had a mechanical problem in ours so we kinda sat around for 30-minutes while it was sorted. This is good as a hop-on/hop-off to get your baring of the city.
🚦Melbourne is trying to reduce car use in CBD so it is frustrating drivers by shortening the "Go" traffic lights especially if you need to turn. Good thing that the CBD is walkable.
Felt very safe both day and night.

Sydney: Very walkable. Used the hop-on/hop-off bus to get my baring and learn some history about the city.
✈️We had the most issues at the airport here: 2 flight delays, canceled and rebooted flight, and a ticket that could not be located. That said there are so many flights in and out of here that they just put you on what's available next.

New Zealand/Auckland: Very walkable CBD. The have commuter buses. There's also a system of ferries to move around the islands. However, I was most struck by the lack of transportation infrastructure (trains or buses) for day trips other than tour companies.
🚗I'd recommend getting a rental car to get around because the most interesting thinhs/activities are outside of Auckland.

While Mother's Day is a day to celebrate and appreciate mothers, it can be a complicated and difficult day for some people. This may include those who have lost their mothers, those who have strained relationships with their mothers, those who have experienced trauma or abuse from their mothers, those who are unable to have children or who have experienced pregnancy loss, and those who have complex family situations such as being raised by someone other than their mother.

For individuals who have lost their mothers, Mother's Day can be a painful reminder of their loss and grief. Those who have strained relationships with their mothers may feel guilty or conflicted about celebrating the holiday. For those who have experienced trauma or abuse from their mothers, the day can be triggering and may bring up difficult emotions. Additionally, for those who are unable to have children or have experienced pregnancy loss, the day can be a painful reminder of unfulfilled dreams and desires.

It's important to acknowledge that not everyone has a positive relationship with their mother or is able to celebrate Mother's Day in the traditional sense. Being mindful of others' experiences and feelings can help create a more inclusive and understanding environment for everyone.

Name a time in history when those who banned books have turned out to be the good folx? I'll wait.
Banned Books Week just ended.
🚩The American Library Association tracked 729 challenges to library, school, and university materials and services in 2021. Of the 1,597 individual books that were challenged or banned in 2021.

🚩A majority of the bans feature books written by authors who are people of color, LGBTQ+, Black, and Indigenous, and feature characters from marginalized groups. In at least one school district, even President Barack Obama's biography is among the banned books.

🚩States with the most aggressive book bans include Texas with 713 bans, Pennsylvania with 456 bans, and Florida with 204 bans.
