100 Years ago this Easter.

My Dear Daly ,

Just a wee note to bid you Goodbye. I expect in a few hours to join Tom and the other heroes in a better world . I have been sentenced to a soldiers death - to be shot tomorrow morning .
I have nothing to say about this only that I look on it as a part of the day's work . We die that the Irish nation may live . Our blood will rebaptise and reinvigorate the old land . Knowing this it is superfluous to say how happy I feel .
I know now what I have always felt , that the Irish nation can never die . Let present day place hunters condemn our action as they will , posterity will judge us aright from the effects of our action .
I know I will meet you soon , until then GoodBye . God guard and protect you and all in No. 15 . You have had a done trial , but I know quite well that Mrs. Daly and all the girls feel proud in spite of a little temporary and natural grief , that her son and the girls , their brothers as well as Tom are included in the list of honours .
Kindly remember me especially to Mrs. Clarke and tell her I am the same Seán that she always knew .

I have the 2016 tour booked! I just need to work on the marketing material to publish all of the details. This tour will be like no other marking the centennial of the uprising. As usual we will be working with our well established Irish tour partners. We will meet everyone at Dublin airport on July 1 and es**rt you to our luxury tour coach where we will guide you to meet some amazing people and see some of the hot spots and undiscovered places for 7 nights. The first 2 nights will be in Belfast. Another night in a real amazing Irish castle in Donegal. Time in Derry and Dublin. To our friends in the Boston area. I am in the process of booking a luxury box for this great event at Fenway Park. There are 8 seats available at the moment. Selling at my cost of $100 per ticket. The box is heated and there are private seats just outside the box that are also heated. Food and beverage is not included but skip the beer lines because there is service in the box. Ok. I have the best 100th anniversary of the rebellion tour booked!
Arrive in Dublin on Friday July 1st. Our luxury tour bus will head to Belfast and tour the city then meet with people who were on both sides of the troubles. Dinner and dancing there then on to Derry and then to a real amazing castle hotel in Donegal. Forget the cookie cutter tours. Ok. We are doing a 100th anniversary of the uprising tour! Putting the finishing touches on the details but it will likely begin on July 1, 2016. We will hit the hot spots including Belfast, Galway and Dublin but we will also explore the rebel country in County Leitrim where I may have a few connections. We will meet people from both sides of history. This is not a cookie cutter tour. There's churches, prisons and castles. What more could you ask for? Here's one of our fun groups. Details soon. Just working out the summer dates with our Irish tour partners but the 100th Anniversary Tour is looking awesome! Last week in June or 2nd week in July. We fly into Dublin then take you to Belfast for a tour of a life time. Sit down with those involved with both sides of the troubles. We bring history to you like no others. Great things to come. Got a nice first draft of the 100th Anniversary Tour of the Irish Uprising from our tour partner in Cork today. June 2016. Here's some hints. I won't publish until it's ready but Belfast - 2 nights. Hear from people who were on both sides of the troubles. Tour Belfast on the Falls road. Visit a jail and a cemetery where a few rebels lay. Stay in an incredible castle in Donegal. Drive with us through rebel country in Leitrim and the unexplored west coast. I happen to know a few people there! Cross over the Dublin for a couple of visits to incredible spots that we have reserved already where others don't. June 2016. Keep a week open. All will be done from out luxury tour coach with the best driver in Ireland. Slainte!

This Easter marks the 99th anniversary of the Irish uprising. The declaration is a profound document with the first sentence always sticking with me "IRISHMEN AND IRISHWOMEN: In the name of God and of the dead generations from which she receives her old tradition of nationhood, Ireland, through us, summons her children to her flag and strikes for her freedom." Just think of how difficult it was to communicate plans for the rising throughout British occupied rural Ireland at the time. Many thought the rising was cancelled but as our friend Lorcan from the 1916 Rebellion Walking Tour explains, "The occupation of the GPO was the equivalent of 30 men storming a Starbucks in Washington DC and declaring that they were taking over the United States!" Those that fought there faced incredible odds. There's so much more to this story. I will post details as things come along but plan on joining us for a great history tour in 2016! Slainte!
