As we celebrate Disability Pride Month, Abby shares her journey with an invisible disability and how she found a sense of belonging in the Sodexo Organization for Disabilities Resources (SOAR). As Senior Finance Director in Supply Management, Abby finds that SOAR has significantly impacted her personal and professional growth.

“SOAR is the first place where I talked about my disability at work, and because I have an invisible disability (hard of hearing), it is something that I could easily hide. SOAR has given me a platform, as a national leader, to address the stigma around disabilities, invisible or not, and that is crucial to our success.”

Abby’s inspiring story highlights the vital role EBRGs play in promoting inclusion and support within our organization.

Christy Lynne has been with Sodexo for over 20 years. When she first started, her title was Catering Director, and she is now a Senior Director in our Corporate Staff segment. Happy Juneteenth! Today, we celebrate the day that commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans in the United States. It's a day of joy, reflection, and recommitment to building a more just future.

This year, our AALF EBRG (African American Leadership Forum Employee Business Resource Group) and Stop Hunger are collaborating to address racial disparities in hunger. Rates of hunger are at least twice as high in communities of color, and students are especially vulnerable.

Kerri Wilkin, Food Service Manager, at Putnam City School District in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma started as a Kitchen Manager and worked her way up into her current role. She enjoys using her experience and knowledge to better serve the students in the school district.

“Being a Food Service Manager has opened my eyes to another side of management, from once being a Kitchen Manager to now managing managers, I get to make an impact with my knowledge and skills from both positions to make sure the children get the best experience.”

The impact that Food Service Managers make at Sodexo is larger than managing teams and serving meals. They play a vital role in our customer’s experience and overall well-being.

“I love that we can take this month to celebrate our background and experiences whether we are of Asian American descent, are married to one, or know one; just understanding that aspect of the person's life that makes them who they are, who we have come to love and who we work with. Baisha, Director of Communications for the Chevron Central Team, also serves as the Communication Chair for Sodexo’s Pan-Asian Network Group (PANG). Through her active involvement, Baisha has not only helped promote diversity and inclusion within the company but has also shared her own cultural heritage as a proud Filipino.

Joining Sodexo in December 2019, Celisse brings her culinary expertise to Castleberry Independent School District in River Oaks, Texas. With a background in fine dining, catering, and banquets, she found her true passion in serving students when she joined the Sodexo team at Castleberry Independent Schools.

Her favorite part of being an Executive Chef at Sodexo is serving students meals they love! The students at Castleberry Independent Schools voted her “Think TX Meatloaf” as their favorite meal (pictured).

In K-12 and Independent Schools, Sodexo Executive Chefs like Celisse play a vital role. Beyond providing essential nutrition for academic success, they foster happiness and satisfaction among students with each meal they serve. 😀

Mariah’s journey started as a student at one of Sodexo’s campus accounts, Clark Atlanta University (CAU) in Atlanta, Georgia. She graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. After graduation, Mariah accepted a full-time job with Sodexo as a Marketing Coordinator at CAU. The knowledge she gained from attending this college as a student and the major she selected, made her a perfect fit for the role. Bill Masters - Registered Dietitian

Meet Bill, Sodexo Registered Dietitian at Wesbury Retirement Community. He recently joined Sodexo and is continuing his eclectic career path. As a veteran of two branches, the Air Force and Army National Guard, Bill served as a nuclear missile maintenance technician and field artillery specialist in a career that spanned three decades. His passion for nutrition and helping others led him to pursue a career in dietetics, where he worked in the acute and primary care settings for six years. Sensing a need for change in 2022, Bill drove a tractor-trailer for two years before returning to dietetics with Sodexo.
