We are wrapping up our Sodexo Intern Spotlight series with Elena! Elena has been a vibrant addition to the Food and Nutrition Management team at Brigham and Women’s Faulkner Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts.
Elena’s favorite project she worked on was implementing a patient birthday program. This program involves providing a confetti cake and birthday cards signed by the staff to patients celebrating their birthdays in the hospital. This initiative has brought joy to many patients and has been incredibly rewarding for Elena.
Elena advises future interns to proactively seek out opportunities to help and learn from colleagues to broaden their scope of knowledge and experience.

Varan is up next in our Sodexo Intern Spotlight! He gained hands-on experience at PIH Health Whittier Hospital as an HTM intern.
His favorite project involved replacing the cylinder of a surgical bed, which challenged him to think creatively and apply his mechanical skills. Varan has learned practical skills and gained hands-on experience by working with mechanical devices.

Kenyatta is next in our Sodexo Intern Spotlight! She has made a significant impact during her internship at La Sierra University in Riverside, California.
Her favorite assignment was participating in the campus’s graduation ceremony, where she applied her skills in Maximo, a computerized maintenance management system, and was introduced to SALUS to manage environmental conditions. This experience was rewarding and provided her with valuable hands-on learning opportunities.
Kenyatta's advice for future interns is to ask questions daily, communicate their progress with supervisors, and be open to sharing their ideas and suggestions.

As the summer comes to a close, we are excited to highlight the achievements of five fantastic interns. Each made significant contributions to their respective teams, and we are proud of their dedication and enthusiasm.
First up is Shedarah, who interned at CSUSM Dining Services and was welcomed by a supportive team that provided him with the necessary training and autonomy to thrive.
“The managers and team have been very welcoming, and they have set me up for success by giving me the necessary training for this particular position.”
During his internship, he particularly enjoyed working with the catering department to present a new Mediterranean dining concept to campus executives, which offered healthy and popular food options for students. This project allowed him to develop skills in engaging presentations and staying up to date with culinary trends. Shedarah advises future interns to keep an open mind, absorb all lessons and information, and continually seek opportunities for growth.
