23/08/2018

Dave is actually leaving tomorrow morning

19/08/2018

It has now been decided. Dave will leave on Wednesday for the Island, and bike around there to complete his grand bike for Diabetes. 😍😎

12/08/2018

Due to wild fires, and road work, Dave won't be able to carry on with his ride the way he was doing it. He's thinking of riding from home up to the Sunshine Coast, around Vancouver Island, and back home again. He's having his elbow looked at now that he has recovered from the heat stroke. It was damaged before he started the ride, and is now acting up again. We suspect bone chips. Once that's cleared away we'll give you the updated ride.

06/08/2018

I will have to delete this page I'm sorry. It will be incorporated into our new Adventures of Two Old Farts page, with one for Dave under Old Dude Adventures, and one for Laurie under Laurie's Adventures, as well as Adventures of Two Old Farts

Dave is mending, but he's still not himself

Dave is now home. He still gets waves of dizziness from the heat stroke.

31/07/2018

Dave went to the hospital today, in Golden. He does have heat stroke, and they tell him no more of the ride. His daughter, Kathleen will pick him up and bring him home. He'll get here Wednesday or Thursday. He'll rest up, get over the heat stroke, then see about finishing the ride. ☹️

29/07/2018

I talked to Dave over the phone. He'll stay in Golden a few more days, at least two, maybe three or four. He got heat stroke riding into Golden,so he's taking it easy until all symptoms leave him. He's sending home things he doesn't need any more, resting, cooling off, and taking it slowly.

22/07/2018

We left Richmond by car at 3 in the morning last Friday. We travelled to Prince George with no problems, getting there in time for dinner with Michelle and Aaron, Dave's daughter. We crashed the first night, and set about visiting with Michelle, Aaron and their two boys, Drostan who is 4 and Aizen who is 1 1/2.
The children are exceedingly bright, and ask questions you wouldn't expect from such young ones. They are both in difficult ages, and quite exhausting.
We also visited with Dave and Colleen, and their children, Lindsey who was about to turn 12 and Daniel who is 9. They were more restful. Dave2 was only too willing to take Dave1 up to Jasper, because he could visit with Daniel 1 on 1 and also spend some time with his Dad. Very good.
So we had a plan - I would take care of the boys while everyone was doing what they needed to do, then the next day we would celebrate Lindsey's birthday, then the next day Dave and Dave and Daniel would take off to Jasper.
It all worked out very well. D&D&D set off at 7 am, and I crashed on Colleen's sofa while she was at work and Lindsey too in a sewing lesson.
I stayed the night with Colleen and Lindsey, and took the Greyhound home.
I can report that Dave is now at Latitude : 52.51364
Longitude : -117.57304
Time : 7/22/2018, 9:28:52 AM
I'll report again where he's at, and give you what he says when he gets within cell phone range

Old Dude Adventures

This is the beginning of Dave’s Adventures. It is a ride from Jasper, in the mountains, to Victoria, on Vancouver Island. Victoria is the capital of British Columbia, so the ride will end on the lawn of the Legislature. The ride is to being awareness of Type 1 Diabetes, which Dave has had since he was 13.
