What a great time it was birding at del colibrí in Anime, Tolima. The hotspot is well connected with the Cauca Valley and the Coffee Area, lodging at Urapanes del Bosque outstanding and The Birds! 4-5 Endemics including Tolima Blossomcrown, Tolima Dove and Yellow-eared Parrot!

We also had great views of Bronze-winged Parrot, White-tipped Sicklebill and Mottled Owl! 🤯

On day 3 of Icaro Birding private tour we spent time at Doña Dora place in the higher parts of the Choco Bioregion. Really good activity at the feeders with Barbets, Tanagers, Mountain-Tanagers, Hummingbirds, Saltatory and a Long-tailed Nightjar nearby.

🦜 Curiosities of the Santa Marta Parakeet: A Treasure of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta 🌳

Did you know that the Santa Marta Parakeet (Pyrrhura viridicata) is one of the rarest and most special parrots in the world? Here are some interesting facts:

1. Exclusive to Colombia: The Santa Marta Parakeet is an endemic species, meaning it can only be found in the mountains of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta.

2. Colorful Plumage: While its plumage is predominantly green, what truly stands out is its striking red forehead and bluish feathers on its wings and tail. These features make it easy to spot among the vegetation.

3. Community Life: These little parrots are highly social and usually form small flocks of up to 20 individuals. You can see them flying together at high speed between trees or resting on the highest branches.
