Introduction of “LG Hope Community Project”
LG is one of the leading electronics company in the world. LG is glad to announce its three major development programs that are pertinent to the development routes of the country. These programs are:
• LG Hope Village
• LG Hope TVET College, and
• LG Hope Descendants
With the belief that the key for successful CSR programs are sustainability and sel
f-reliance, LG Headquarter in Korea has established its Representative Office in Ethiopia to support, facilitate and monitor both the CSR and business activities. In support of the country’s strategy for agricultural program, LG Hope village is designed to build self-sustained model farm villages in the vicinity of Sandafa area, Oromia Region. This program’s objective is to increase farmers’ productivity and to educate leadership and innovative mind-set through self-organized committee in order to keep continuously this success. LG will support basic infrastructural services (including potable water, hygiene and sanitation). The government has endorsed this project and we are progressing well. Then, we will transfer this success to other village in Sandafa area as well. LG believes education is the core element that accelerates development of the country. In line with this, we are giving much emphasis to the Fostering of Skilled Workers Program, and we would like to operate at higher scale in Ethiopia. We are planning to establish TVET colleges in Addis Ababa. This program operates under three specializations: Information Technology (IT), Electric/Electronic and TV/Cellphone repairs class provision with LG’s core competencies and long time experience on the areas. LGE also has a plan to introduce agricultural technology class by connecting with the LG hope community village project. For the support for descendants of the Korean War Veterans program, LG participate in Korea Government-level project involving vocational training of electronic repair for 30 descendants in Korea and at the same time, LG provides academic scholarships for another descendants by a one-to-one matching support program with LG staffs.
