“📍A DAY IN EPPING FOREST

⏱️ Walk 3.5 hrs (13km)
🚂 Start at Chingford station (30min on the overground from Liverpool Street Station)

Londoners are incredibly lucky to have this 2,400 acre ancient woodland right on their doorstep! The sunlight filtering through the dense canopy creates a tranquil ambiance that is the perfect antidote to the chaos of city life. The forest’s rich biodiversity reveals itself as keen observers may catch glimpses of deer navigating through the underbrush or rabbits darting across the woodland floor.

End the hike with the ultimate view of London and refreshing pint at situated at the top of York Hill and Pump Hill.

📍CASTLE IN THE AIR X FAUNA BREWERY

⏱️ Walk 3.5 hrs (13.7km)
🚂 Arundel station (1.30hr from Victoria)

For this extra special hike, we have teamed up with a brewery that uses the sale of its beers to fund the conservation of endangered animals. Phil Howard, founder of Fauna, has curated this excellent hike ending in a free drink at the brewery, a stone’s throw away from Arundel Castle.

This week's spotlight walk is 📍Roaming In Regent's Park - Starting from Baker Street Station, this 1.5hr cirular walk is the perfect way to wind down in central London. You'll be blown away by the epic views of the capital and can even treat yourself to a drink at The Queens. Take in the iconic Avenue Garden which explodes into pink cherry blossom in the Spring. There is also a stunning secret garden that the more observant of you may stumble across... 👀

Meet the Curator - 📍The Sussex Winelands

Nick is an English Wine aficionado who hosts tours and tastings at one of the UK’s most exciting wine estates Artelium Wine Estate in Sussex. He is also a keen hiker and spends his weekends exploring the South Downs around his Sussex home. So, who better to bring together our Sussex Winelands Tour?

“It’s said that beautiful places make amazing wines, and that is certainly true with the Sussex South Downs. The area has quickly gained a reputation as one of the world’s most exciting emerging wine regions and, tasting the wines, it is easy to see why.”

“I wanted to find a route that brought together the highlights of this part of Sussex: from the South Downs ridge to one of its top estates. It’s only by walking through the landscape – from up on the chalk hills, to down in the clay farmland – that you get a sense of the typography and geology that make this a special place for growing grapes and making wines.”

“For me, nothing beats tasting wines in situ. When you’re a stone’s throw from the vineyard, with the views out across the South Downs, the wine comes to life. Of course, it’s made all the better if you feel like you deserve it after a good walk.”

The Cormorant is a large and prehistoric-looking water bird that can be spotted on with their wings stretched out sunbathing after diving for their lunch.

WHERE TO SPOT THEM: You can spot them while on our 'Follow The Blades' walk which takes you on a lovely walk through Putney where you can visit a great cafe on Lower Richmond Road and also be able to visit WWT London Wetland Centre, where there is even more wildlife to see!

It's mental health awareness week this week, and the theme for this year is movement. Walking can be a great way to reduce stress, gather your thoughts and help put things in perspective, it can play a key role in improving people's mental health.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, for anyone who joins our hiking club, we will be donating 1 month's worth of their subscription fee to the Mental Health Foundation. The donation will help to support this amazing charity whose research programmes help prevent mental health problems developing for individuals and communities.

Vespucci Adventures evolved from our passion for long distance walking and cycling. Day to day worries fall by the wayside, the spirit being freed by the shared experience and sense of challenge. We want to inspire a new generation to follow in our footsteps by giving you all you need to get out there and to put together your own adventure.

Amerigo Vespucci was a 16th century Italian explorer and cartographer. Less well known than some of his contemporaries, nonetheless he is credited with discovering “the Americas”. We would love our business to embody his sense of adventure, inspiration and love of maps and to share that with our customers. Hence Vespucci Adventures!
